Perspex (aka acrylic) is 'below' silk in the TES and therefore captures electrons from the silk, making it net negative after contact, right? The behavior will look identical as this demo but for the 'opposite' reason, which is why this gets so complicated IRL.

Thank you! I just commented that this in no way shows that the rod was positively charged, and in fact, in another video stating the same demonstrating the photoelectric effect, the same mistake is made.

At 0:54 you state you are going to show how you know the rod is positively charged using the electroscope. But at no point do you do that - you would get the same results if the rod was negatively charged. I think it does show that the rod is charged, but not the polarity.

Televisions use this same principle to "navigate" electrons to illuminate a phosporous screen but it uses both "Static" and 'inductive" methods in unison

an electroscope dosent tell you weather the object is positively charged or negatively. It can only tell you if any object has a charge or not
