Here is a quick review for you. This allows me to back up all my Arduino and Raspberry Pi notes, code, video...etc. It's so convenient to use and if you're looking for a while to archive your projects, maybe this will work for you. I appreciate you watching - thank you!~ 😁
Hello Brad! I have a quick question: does the power button have two positions (on/off)? For me this is important because if I have a power cut, I want the drive to turn back on automatically as soon as the power comes back.
I bought this for my 2TB drive but every time its plugged in, the station won't turn on. Its perfectly fine when the hard drive isn't plugged in though.
hey there! Sorry to hear that. They used to have good customer service but it's been a long time since I reached out to them. Maybe you need a firmware update? Try that and see if it works. fingers crossed!~
Hmm... interesting. reboot computer? try this on docking station on another PC and see if that works. Also, what size hard drive are you using? Is it over 2TB? If you have the exact docking station that I have you will download EC-DFLT - Firmware. Check the bottom of your hard drive for the exact firmware you need to download. You may need to download the zipfile to your external hard drive and run the firmware update there. There's also a customer support tab you can open on this weblink sabrent.com/pages/support#Downloads You can send a question from there.
ive bought his, it works on my 200GB drive but not on my 4TB or 10TB drive, is there a size limit for the drives it can read? i'd really appreciate any help as i need to make a showreel to apply for jobs and all my work is trapped on those two drives , thanks
There's no info in the manual about this but after reading through some amazon comments, you need to upgrade the firmware for it to recognize anything over 2gb. I didn't know about this and apparently many other were unaware also.

@@BMonsterLaboratory HI, you were right, i needed to update firmware on the caddy, i also didnt know i would need to switch the caddy off while installing it, the sabrent help desk were brilliant and helped me through it all thanks very much, ive been stumped for over a year - unable to access my entire portfolio which makes applying for jobs hard thanks again, life saver
hey there! Try connecting the docking station to a different USB port or a different computer to rule out port or system-specific issues. See if the Sabrent docking station has the latest drivers installed. Visit the Sabrent website to check for any available updates for your docking station model. There's also a customer support tab you can open on this weblink. Also, Right-click on the drive in File Explorer and select 'Properties'. Go to the 'Security' tab and click on 'Advanced'. Check the 'Owner' section at the top. If you're not listed as the owner, click on 'Change', enter your user account name, and apply the changes. Ensure you have full control permissions. In the 'Permissions' tab within the same 'Advanced Security Settings', edit the permissions to give your account full control. There are a few ideas...let me know how it goes
Major problem here. Any hard drive that I format and use in this docking station is either corrupted or will not function when I insert the drive in another (different brand) docking station. I have formatted 3 new drives with this docking station. One would not play in another dock; the other (4TB) lost its GPT formatting, showed up in another dock as 2TB unformatted and 2TB unallocated, and when I reinserted into this dock, it showed up as _16TB_ unformatted.

@BMonster Laboratory I'm trying to determine whether it is, in fact, my Sabrent EC-DFFN Docking Station (USB 3.0), or my XCELLON HDD-1321 Dock (USB 3.2). Right now, if I format a hard drive in one dock, the drive will instantly be corrupted if I use it in the other. I formatted a 4TB hard drive in the Sabrent. When I tried to use it on my XCELLON, the format and the contents disappeared, and what I got was 2TB or unformatted (RAW) space and 2TB of unallocated space. When I put the drive back into the Sabrent, the 4TB drive displayed _16TB_ of RAW space. If I format the drive in one of the docks and never use it on the other, I have no problems. I have a 16TB drive, formatted in the Sabrent. It is unreadable on the XCELLON. The reverse happens when I format a hard drive with the XCELLON and use it in the Sabrent. I wonder if the difference in the USB configurations and their speeds is the problem. I may have to get a 3rd external dock of a different brand to determine which one of these two is faulty. By the way, I just spotted the Sabrent firmware page, and there is a Jmicron firmware update tool for the EC-DFFN. Does that include the firmware? I don't see the stand-alone firmware for my dock. XCELLON has no firmware.
Just replaced my XCELLON dock with a Sabrent DS-U301 dock (the dock with 3 USB ports), and tested that dock _and_ my Sabrent EC-DFFN flat dock with a formatted 16TB Seagate EXOS hard drive (formatted inside my EC-DFFN). In the flat dock, the contents show up normally; but as soon as I move it to the upright DS-U301, the hard drive space shows up as 2TB (2,048GB) of RAW GPT space, followed by 14TB of unallocated space. When I put the drive back into the EC-DFFN flat dock, the drive space and its contents show up normally. Is the DS-U301 rated for 16TB hard drives? I thought I read the specs somewhere saying that it can work with drives up to _20TB._ Or should I wipe the drive clean, re-initialize and re-format it while inside the DS-U301, and double-check if it works in both docks? Or is my EC-DFFN flat dock corrupted? My 4TB WD drive (barely 3 weeks since I bought it) needed multiple checks for errors and repairs because it kept getting corrupted inside the dock.
I've seen enough. I'm going to have to replace BOTH docks. My DS-U301 keeps disconnecting for no reason, and I'm almost certain that my EC-DFFN is predisposed to corrupting my hard drives or its contents. Over the weekend a folder was inaccessible, and today a bunch of text files (.txt) opened with the contents all blank.
@@CookyMonzta the Amazon post says it supports up to 20TB but couldn't find much on their site. I don't have the DS-U301 model. Call their tech support +1(323)266-0911. I hear their support is good.
Todavía funciona muy bien. Sin embargo, no lo dejo funcionando. Solo lo enciendo el tiempo suficiente para cargar o recuperar archivos. Lo hago por si hace calor.
