Yes if you are at a place with bad wind, you just need to make sure the birds aren't defensive before landing, and change accordingly or use scent eliminater
They need to fix the ducks landing on the shore, I’ve hunted ducks for 10 years and never seen a duck land on shore rather than water once, they much prefer water as it’s softer for their landing
Hahaha I know right duck hunted in New Zealand since I was young lad never seen mallards or spoon ducks land on the shore... only the paradise duck lands on shore and water, they also land without decoys no calling hence the nickname "goony bird" 🤣

Thanks-a-million there Flinter for this video on waterfowl hunting. I knew that I was doing something wrong since I wasn't aware that water blind was even available. I had been using the portable tent for fast traveling to the spot. But, I had been using the portable land blinds set up too close to the shoreline and too close to the decoys that as soon as you hit the zipper on the blind to enter, the ducks will hear that and begin to take flight immediately which throughly will test your reaction times and reflexes especially if the particular species is quick to begin with. I'm assuming that the water blinds are available as an add-on, so I will look into acquiring it. Again, thanks for all of your valuable assistance and information on this particular subject matter. 😀 👍
My game is updating right now, it was updating so slowly, so I had to go and delete a lot of stuff, now it's so close to being finished, can't wait to play this map
@Flinter The Devs in the precursor videos mentioned setting up decoys differently to allow a hole or open area to land in. I dont know if you have experimented with this so that the ducks don't land on shore or maybe land in a viable area. I will try tonight after work for wind direction and hole setups!

The decoys do attract there own species, I played for days with only mallards and got goldeneye decoys and all of a sudden all that’s landing are goldeneye
@@ethans7914 none. I just ran around shooting deer, bear, moose, rock ptarmigans, literally anything I saw. I wouldn’t even try to get a good shot in unless it looked like a really good animal. Just used the modern .308 and went wild. Made 25k in a few hours. But from what I’ve done on Layton lakes with ducks yes they’re very profitable.
@@eckiefleckie4938 hey ive actually been doing that too just loading up with a bunch of 30-06 and the M1 Garand and just hosing Whitetails lmao and i have a few rounds for the .338 in case i see a good moose or bear and of course a bunch of birdshot since i only have the 3 round 10 gauge currently this map is a blast
For duck/geese hunting since the update are the birds not landing as much as they did before? I had many flocks of geese/ducks fly by me and they wouldn’t land. Sometimes they did but most of the time not. I also couldn’t spot them as they flew either …I know I had enough decoys and callers. I talked to my hubby who has duck hunt irl and he said this is very much like duck hunting is. Sometimes they land sometimes they don’t. But I wasn’t sure
To me they need to slow them down while they take off because it’s hard to get more than one sometimes and while I was on Layton lakes hunting if o shoot one on the water my screen turns black
A way to avoid dismantling decoys when collecting a trophy is to look up into the sky. You can still collect the kill but you wont take any decoys down.
Whenever I try hunting any type of bird in this game, they’re always alert upon flying overhead and rarely ever land, I hope this helps but it’s kind of the same thing I have been doing
So fast traveling to tents renders in waterfowl but not larger game right? That's how it was in the past I think. I'm also wondering what changes were made to waterfowl hunting in this update. Did anything change besides content from duck hunting before?
Why can I not get the ducks and geese to come in. We tried a set up with both ducks and geese trying to call in what ever we happen to see fly over head and never had anything land but on the opposite side of the lake from us. It feels like we are doing everything right but nothing ever wants to land. Same for geese on the other map. Any advice is welcome 😂
Hey, probably a stupid question but do you need a different dlc I just downloaded the game on Xbox but there’s no duck decoys in the cache. Do I need another dlc?
Birds dont have problem with hunting pressure, only if you put your setup on for example drinking zone of a land animal then you have to worry. Other then that you can shoot as many as you want. When the birds stop coming i usually exit to main menu or i make second setup somewhere else so i can hop between the two. Hope it helps :)
FLINTER THERE IS A HUGE SECRET! At the bottom of the map there is an island with paths on it. If you go to the lookout tower that’s closest to it, there is a boat! And you can go out to the island with it.
