Join me behind the scenes for another of my single-take rehearsals for demos that I am prepping for, test-driving new concepts, or generally practicing. Usually recorded late after all my normal work is done, you might enjoy some of the tips and tricks I hope to offer.
A quick one (for a change!):
In prepping for a different demo (setting up a "photo shoot" inside Render Studio) I needed to make an umbrella. I thought the surface technique I used would make a neat demo. Emphasis was making it robust to changes, hence the use of variables and a couple of other tricks. I use a few options in the loft feature that are handy.
The document I show has been made public to any Onshape user if you want to check it out: cad.onshape.co...

You have really helped elevate my modeling skills. Huge thanks man. I have 2 products being injection molded as we speak. Only started modeling last October. Thanks a ton man.

Learned a lot in this one. Thanks. But would love to see all the nuances of the circular pattern steps because I can't get that aspect to work when I try to recreate this.

Specifically, I can't get the circular pattern of scallops to adjust correctly and move in synchronicity when the number of sides variable changes. Seems like it might involve a constraints issue, but for life of me I can't figure it out.

Let me take a quick look at what I did... does this help? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UHOtGRvQihs.html

Hello! I am very glad I found your guide here on youtube. I was wondering if it is possible to turn this surface into a solid surface so that I could run some aerodynamics simulations on it?

Great to have you here on the channel! I have made that document public at this url: cad.onshape.com/documents/09823b79c38d31d7a4dfa961/w/03e4b08080915ccde6c7b898/e/ceadc74311ad41bd72c9f4e5 You are free to copy it for your own usage... If you do so you can see the last feature is a delete face - if you roll back before this you'll have a big solid lump which might be what you are asking for? Alternatively you could use a Thicken feature on the surface, again if that's what you are looking for. Let me know if this helps!
