Thank you for the tips. I wish I had known about testing with a power supply/meter. I had exactly the same problem with a wafer switch in a vintage Hansen transistor tester. I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work. Thanks

Interesting that a conductive material on the phenolic base caused this issue. Scraping it away with a dental pick cured the problem. But it had more wiring issues that you squared away. Very good, because this kind of stuff can really drive you nuts!

Those Phenolic wafers looked brand new. I believe now that there was some battery leakage that made its way down to them and contaminated them. The "high voltage purge" burnt them out. I sure didn't want to throw that meter in the bin.

Ahh I still use my Fluke 77's too :) calibrate them every year and they are still always within specs...
