Yes wow a different, when you painted it black. It's beautiful 😍. Laugh a little of Peanut, such a sweet story ❤️. I'm impressed by himself telling he had broken the cd 💿 😄. Great job both you Kelly and Peanut ❤️
Holy cow, your card is BEAUTIFUL. You have some of THE best ideas Kelly. I've never seen anything like this before. Coloring black ink in the negative spaces made a huge difference. While both are pretty, I honestly prefer the 2nd one! If I hadn't watched you make this card I would have thought you colored each flower individually. TFS!
Good parenting that what children have to do in the real world if they break something that does not belong to them, congratulations on that choice...excellent card and way teaching how to put it together so everyone can understand very well done. Peace and love to all...
Yep- the drama of that is yummy! Coloring the edges & negative space with black marker made a tremendous difference. So beautiful! Kiddos do such random things sometimes - I think it’s safe to blame it on the frontal lobe of brain not being fully developed yet! That said, I bet he won’t do that particular random thing again lol. Kudos to him for doing the responsible thing afterwards, and kudos to you for training him to be that way! And while I’m at it, Kudos to Eric for being the kind of dad Nathan felt safe to tell (sadly, not all dads are).
Great card! I would never have thought you colored in the background if you had not said anything. It really adds so much to the card. A trick I learned as a nurse for removing rings off swollen fingers that may help in such situations. We would use waxed dental floss to wrap around the digit from the ring going down. It compressed the area just below the ring and the waxed floss would give the ring a slick surface to slide onto. It always amazes me what a kid can get into that gets them stuck in some way…and can’t get out of.
Loved your card!!! As you were talking about handing most of your cards out instead of mailing them I realized I mail most of mine.I have 13 great neices and nefews every holiday I make them fast easy cards and mail them out they love getting mail of their own .
Gorgeous card! You really had me smiling and laughing with your son’s dilemma. I have sons and 9 grandchildren so I know the crazy s tuff they get into. I’m glad you didn’t have to take drastic action to get the CD off his finger.🤣🤗😉
Very cute and love the coloring……what? With brushes and distressed inks! I love the way you bring it all together and they are just stunning. Gonna try this……..thanks for sharing! Love the black contrast…..so pretty!
It was so refreshing to hear you say you had trouble lining up layering stamps. I've given up on them, beautiful as they can be. When you first showed the card, I thought you had done it on black card, but couldn't figure out how you got the vibrant color. Gorgeous
I would like to say a couple of things. It’s good to see the cuffs of your blue robe knowing you you able to clean it of the toxic puke. Lol. I love the card, thanks for sharing this with us. And last, but definitely not least, thank you for doing your best to raise a child who faces consequences for his decisions. Obviously it is working because Nathan approached Eric without your prompting and told him what happened and said he would replace . Not having children of my own I am full of opinions on how children should be raised. I am rolling my eyes at myself. But so many children have no consequences regardless of what they do. What Nathan chooses to do as a teenager and adult is totally up to him but you and Erik should be given a pat on the back on how you are trying to raise your children. Sorry for the novel length comment.
Beautiful card. When you were coloring in all the white spaces with a black marker I thought Kelly WTH?! But once it was all finished, it was not noticeable and looks wonderful. You cracked me up about Peanut’s head stuck in the staircase. Made me think about when my sister put her head into the steering wheel in the family’s VW Bug. Dad had to come down and get her head out. Then the nut put her head back in it to try to figure out how she managed to get it stuck in the first place! 🤣🤣🤦♀️🤦♀️.
This! Honestly, this is the most appealing card design I’ve seen yet. Your vid came across my feed randomly, and I have subscribed because I am super impressed with your technique and your voice and your relatability! I look forward to more of your content!
I LOVE my stamp layering sets. Yes, they can be a tad difficult to line up, but so many companies do things to simplify that process. Even with lining them up they are so fast and so easy to mass produce! And as a side note, I think you're great for teaching your child responsibility. Too many children grow up thinking they are owed something instead of thinking they need to be responsible for something.
Beautiful card! I love black with bright colors too. And boys will be boys! It could've been worse. A story about my dad when he was little (probably 3 or 4 yrs old) that always sticks out in my head... He put a bunch of records in a slot in an old furnace. The house started filling up with smoke and no one could figure out why so they got everyone out and called the fire department. When they showed up, there is my dad jumping up and down with excitement yelling "I made the firemen come! I made the firemen come!" 🤣
Wow! What a beautiful card! Colouring the background certainly made the images really "pop" and gave it a very dramatic, striking appearance! Thank you for a great video!
great story. Peanut is growing up for sure. I still use my Altenew layering stamps and I just got two layering stencils to try. Slow to the party I know but old dogs are slow to learn new tricks. thanks as always for sharing and all the inspiration.
Wow! What a difference coloring the background made. This card is absolutely beautiful!!!! You are amazing! Not only as a card maker but you are an amazing Mom. I love that Peanut told Eric when he got home from work. What an honest and conscientious little boy. I wish we had more moms like you! You and Eric are obviously doing a great job! ❤️😻
Stunning card! Love the color against the black. You are a wonderful Mom Kelly. You are teaching Peanut responsibility in a loving way. He is going to grow up to be a wonderful young man.
Beautiful how the black in the blank spaces around the flowers made them pop. I have just put together the supplies I needed to become a beginning card maker. I hope I can make cards as beautiful as I see watching the RU-vid tutorials like your's, eventually. Thank you.
I'm like you in that I prefer to color in stamped images. I usually use Copics and then shade colored pencils over the Copic layer. I also like to watercolor. I do like solid stamps to layer over each other. I honestly do not own many stencils. I have a few that came with the stamps/dies sets. I have enjoyed using the stencils, but I still prefer coloring! I do think sometimes that there are some trendy items that I won't spend money on. I am a long time stamper as in years and years and prefer coloring. But it is good that the industry has other options so that others who might like to do stenciling for example, can participate. And good job with teaching your little guy to be responsible!
Much like you, I find the layering stamps a challenge (actually just decided to throw a set out today as I could not make it work for me) and I MUCH prefer the layering stencils. Thank you for you great videos and inspiration! Kind regards from Germany, Nicola
Wow!!! The black coloring really was the hit of the card. I would not have thought to do that. Thanks for sharing your many talents, skills and knowledge with us,
Beautiful card, Kelly! I like to color, so I haven’t purchased any of the stencil layering or the dies for layering with colored cardstock. I really enjoy the process of coloring stamped mages, so watching/learning your Copic coloring techniques is a joy.
I used to love layering stamps, because they looked so much more realistic, but they are a PAIN to line up, and I became frustrated with them. I have spent many years colouring, with many different mediums, so it’s refreshing to use layering stencils, instead. They are so much quicker, and look good. I haven’t picked up a layering stamp for a long time. Beautiful card, Kelly!
Hiya Kelly, I’ve just got a message via gmail saying to contact you on Telegram which I think is a scam… 😢😢 not sure how to report it but I’m sure you’re on the case already
WOW! When you said you were going to use black on the background, I didn't think it would make enough difference to justify the time it would take--I was sooooo wrong! I can't wait to try your technique, thank you so very much for sharing it with us! Just for fun, you might try Daniel West's technique of stamping, coloring and then re-stamping. He was one of the demonstrators for "Card Maker Success Summit" . If you would like, I can send you a link to that RU-vid demo. I was absolutely blown away by #1 how "sloppy" his coloring looked as he colored all the elements and #2 When he finished coloring and then restamped it, it was so beautiful. Incredible and unbelievable!
I love how you did this using the base color and then adding the stencil color. Beautiful result! Definitely will try this with my stencils. I am nota big proponent of layering stamps, I find that the stamps have a more “harsh” look than the stenciling effect.
Such a pretty card. After years(and years) of stamping I have found my 'happy place' ... coloring :-) So, I don't have any layering stamps, never could get them to work. I have never tried the layering stencils, I love to watch what you do with them ... maybe ?
I also have trouble aligning layering stamps. I love the layering stencils tho. I also love this card. I thought I’ll have to try that until you started with the black pen. Beautiful card . Your work is beautiful.
I love colorful cards on dark backgrounds and this card is stunning! I'm adding the stamp/die/stencil set to my wishlist. As for layered stamps, I have a couple of sets, but I have to admit that I haven't used them as much as I thought I would.
Love the dramatic color contrast with the black! Kids do some silly things that can result in damage. So glad Peanut's finger is okay. And kudos to him for telling Eric without you needing to encourage him to do so! Great job Mothering!!
I love to color, don’t like layered stamps, or stencils…mainly because I don’t want to invest in more ink and brushes etc. I love the process of coloring and have many different mediums to use. Beautiful card, thank you
Would love to see your idea with oxides on black. This card was gorgeous 😍!! Kudos to you as a parent & kudos to Nathan for taking responsibility, that is so rare in the day & age.
What a lovely card! Amazing the difference before and after you colored the black background. I liked both but definitely agree the way you did it is dramatic. I like layering stencils if I am stamping flowers just because it’s easier than coloring them. Haven’t tried any layering stamps yet. Thanks for sharing!
