OH I FOUND YOU!! I still have the same prospek tool from 1993 when I took lessons in your studio!! I will be sharing thus with my sister who has the drawing and painting bug. 💕
Could you let me know what proportions are designated for which hole in the tool? Ex: 1st hole near short end is thirds? 3rd hole is half? Thank you! Love your videos.
I loooooooooove your videos! You are not only a great teacher, but you also remind me of a teacher who changed my life. Thank you! Please know that you are highly appreciated by your followers. May you always be blessed!
proportional divider is what i know it by- there are metal ones used in mechanical drawing wit a screw to tighten it so it does not slip when transfering measurements they also have scales inscribed to see the proportions also used for live measurements
Your drawing board should be at an angle with which you can work comfortably. Ideally, for exact proportion, one would draw on an easel with the subject exactly at the same angle as the easel, but working on a drawing board, with the reference at the angle of the drawing board works.
I have a big one by Dervent. I use it for drawing or painting straight lines, checking angles and proportions. It has blunt ends, so I feel quite safe around it :)
I've never seen this tool before - now I plan to get one - Thanks so much for your help, Dianne! Is there a way this tool can help me make ovals (or faces) that do not look like lopsided eggs? Everything I draw looks like it is slightly leaning to the right. I'm legally blind in one eye, so that's part of the problem. Is there anything that can help with this issue? Thanks again 💖
Ravenzpeak to avoid lopsided images try using a mirror as well it really helps with facial proportions. I also recommend Andrew Loomis as a excellent facial proportions reference. Also Frank Reilly for ref
Man, I've been looking for a proportional divider for some time. Yes, I know I can get them online but I so don't like shopping online. I'm very tactile, online completely removes that aspect of shopping. And my local Hobby Lobby doesn't carry them. But a great tool.
Hi Diane. Could you do a video describing how and when to use mediums for oil painting, as you work from thin to thick? Also, when to use different mediums such as Liquin vs. galkyd, or solvent free gel, etc. thank you!
You can go online to Jerry's Artarama and find it. But first, check you local art supply store. Folks living in north Georgia, USA, can find one at Artfull Barn.
Thank you so much Diane. You are such a great teacher. I have enjoyed all your videos. I have this tool but have never really understood it fully and now I do.
