You make a leaf/petal curl, not by trying to make a leaf/petal curl, but by looking at the shapes created by all the edges you see, the value gradations and contrasts you see within those edges, and the color variations you see.
Miran, there is no prescription for doing this. For pointed leaves, a filbert shape brush will make them easier to shape, and for pointed leaves a flat shaped brush makes it easier. Beyond that the painter pays attention to the shape and direction of the edges of the shape, and moves the brush accordingly.
