You should donate your first ancient seed since Gunther gives you a plantable one along with the recipe, and then you can just throw the ancient fruit you grow into a seed maker to kickstart your empire
Especially cause it can take a while to get the second one. It's not smart to wait so long to plant it because of how long they take to grow anyways, so always plant the first one as soon as we get it cause if you only find the second one in the next season thats at least 4 ancient fruit missed, theres simply no logical reason to wait bc you statistically you'll still find a second one whenever you would've had you not donated and you can just plant that one after.
Nobody panic! There's a monster that has a fairly decent chance of dropping them too, at least compared to the treasure rate, so it's a little easier to find them once you're a bit further into the game.
To anyone who wants to know more about the terraria crossover the doll you have to throw in lava is a reference to the way you summon the wall of flesh, the bone serpent that comes out of the lava is an enemy in the game, the faraway stone is a reference to dungeon defenders which is a cross over in terraria and the meowmere is a post moon lord (final boss) sword that is a reference to the famous neon cat meme
Always donate your first ancient seed. You want to kickstart farming ancient fruit wine as soon as possible because it'll start carrying you about mid-year 3 and on if you want to *casually* optimize profit
Dinosaur eggs are a really good source of income without processing them into Dinosaur Mayoniese once you get the Treasure Appraisal Guide. This book makes all artifacts sell x3 times more, making dinosaur eggs with regular quality sell for 1050g, only 70g less than the mayo with Artisan Goods (and 90g more than mayo without Artisan Goods), while every quality dino eggs from silver to iridium sells for a lot more than the mayo.
you shouldnt keep the ancient seed or the ancient doll, donating the ancient seed artifact already gives you an ancient seed and the meowmere sword is WAY worse than the obsidian edge, which you get in floor 90.
I agree that keeping the ancient seed is stupid regardless, but if you do the remixed mine rewards then holding onto the ancient doll may end up a good idea.
The ancient doll I think is only worthwhile if you have one of those better meowmere mods which buffs the weapon making it on par or better than the later weapons
I think you have to donate your first ancient seed to Gunther to be able to plant it, he well give you the recipe so that if you find more, you can make them into ancient seeds.
he does give you one like I said in the video! I like keeping the first one and donating second because he only gives you one ancient seed that's plantable and starting with more is just a personal preference but you are right!
Yeah no he gives you one plantable seed for donating it. Theres literally no reason to not give your first one to him unless you want to start with 2 plants

Exactly, the first ancient seed is an artifact. We can't even plant it 😂😅. We only able to get the plantable one after we donate the "first ancient seed".
Waiting to get another ancient seed before donating the first one just so you have 2 ancient fruit plants to start with is insane because by the time you get the 2nd seed, you couldve gotten at least one harvest from the first one and made them into seeds via seed maker and resulting in 1-3 more ancient fruit seeds. Its just less efficient but you do you. This is a tip video for beginners so I wouldve given it a pass if they know how to try and grind to get ancient seed drops but even then its faster to just get the first seed in the museum immediately.
I just wanna make an argument that the Ancient seed is required to be donated to the museum cause you unlock the crafting recipe for it along with getting the plantable version as your donation reward, then any ancient seed you randomly find can then be crafted into the growable kind.
When you donate your first ancient seed it gives you a plantable version as well as thw recipe. I'm sure you've been told this, but I am also sure plenty of comments just said you're wrong and didn't explain why. Keep it up with the stardew content ❤️

Also: the ostrich egg. Like the dinosaur egg, you can hatch it (this time in your barn) and it will lay more. You get a free one you get from one of the secret notes, but it's very difficult to get a 2nd unless you hatch the first

I think I'm the only one who didn't give the Prismatic Shard to the museum, I didn't give it to a bachelor or bachelorette, I didn't make a sword out of it, I just sold it because I only think about money- And now that I see these videos, I regret having done that.
Plenty of people have already said why keeping your first ancient fruit seed isn’t actually a good idea so I won’t touch on that, but keeping your first ancient doll isn’t really worth it either. The meowmere is a fun Easter egg but a subpar weapon. It’s outclassed by plenty of weapons you’ll have access to long before you can get the meowmere, as early as floor 55 where you unlock the Templar’s Blade at the Adventurer’s guild. Most players are just gonna throw it in a chest or put it on display somewhere. You can reforge the infinity blade to look like it, but by the time you unlock the forge, you’ll have found plenty more ancient dolls. It’s not that uncommon an artifact.
dont worry too much about the ancient doll one; ancient dolls are pretty common, i get one at least once every mining trip & get them often from digging up buried items.
There's no point waiting for a second ancient seed. Even if you want to start with 2 seeds, it's gonna take the same amount of time whether you donate it or don't
I agree with the prismatic shard and dinosaur egg, but I'm not sure I fully agree with the others. The first one is fun for Terraria fans and long time Stardew Valley players, but the sword isn't particularly good. So for a beginner I think it can be fine to just donate it, especially if they haven't unlocked the sewers. Dwarf gadgets aren't that rare, and by the time I get the recipe I usually have more than one anyway. Though if you've already unlocked the sewers it might be a good idea to wait just in case. Donating the ancient seed you get a plantable seed and the recipe from Gunther, so the second you get another seed you can turn it into a plantable one. I always wait until I have the Greenhouse unlocked though, that way it'll make plenty of fruit for my seed maker. But I'm team starfruit so I don't really need that many. But it really depends on the player!
Hi, massive stardew nerd here with almost 700 hours of playtime. The video is excellent but when you donate the ancient seed to Gunther he gives you the recipe and the seed packet. I started playing during 1.5 so maybe this was a 1.4 thing.
You will find a lot of ancient seeds in the mines and the cart sells them too. Don’t bother, Gunter will give you one anyway and the recipe to use ancient seeds. Same with the dolls, in all my farms so far I have found at least 2, and in one I have like 4. You can also gift the doll to the kids and they like it. The egg, the gadget and the prismatic shard yes, keep them.
You can make dragon egg mayonnaise with the dragon eggs and sell it for more. I just figured that out a couple days ago after selling a bunch of plain Dino eggs
jokes on you, obtained a second prismaric shard before repairing the bus (I've already given the first one), and Günther give you back, so to speak, the seed but as an actual seed and the recipee (literally is best give the seed as soon you get it).

Spoilers! #1 is a bit of a mid-game thing. You need to reach i think level 80-100, the one with the red lake, and then take it to the Wizard's basement, which is only unlocked after a couple hearts with the wizard, which can take a while. Meowmere is also not that great of a sword, its only good for aesthetics or collecting, not for actual use much. I wouldn't worry too much about saving it or the dwarf gadget, but also there's no rush to finish the museum either, it'll take a while either ways. #2 DONATE YOUR FIRST ANCIENT SEED. By donating it, you get the recipe for the ancient seeds that can be planted AND one ancient seed to plant. Ancient seeds are pretty rare finds, you don't have to wait to get another one, you should donate it and plant it/save it for spring, or at the very least summer. #3 & #4 Absolutely save your prismatic shards & your first dinosaur egg. Prismatic shard is one of the rarest things in the game. Dino egg is just a really good produce maker. Also incubate the ostrich egg first to get ostriches, and just donate the ones they lay. #5 is pretty mid-game too, you unlock special orders in fall of year 1, and farm computers don't really have much use? Moneymaking wise at least.
Btw, you can get as many far away stones as you want (idk if you can after getting the meowmere sword) and they sell for more than an ancient doll so its a nice way to get extra cash Ancient Doll is 60g Far Away Stone is 500g
Dont know if creator will see this but the "ancient seed" advice is not good advice and will hinder gameplay progress. Give the ancient seed to gunther and you will recieve the recipe for ancient seeds as well as gain an extra for your self, plant it in the green house and either a. Get a seed maker from the dye bundle (bulletin board) or b. Use the bonus exp gained from harvesting the ancient fruit to get to lvl 9 and make your own. And since its very easy to get to lvl 9 farming it makes no sense to keep the first
about dino egg-I was smart enough to read about it and literally keep it in incubator and not give to Gunther :D im proud of myself. And it actually was in treasure chest while fishing squids for event
Only agree with dinosaur egg and prismatic shard tbh - the Meowmere is cute but not that great as a sword, iirc. You'll get plenty Ancient Dolls to still get it later if you want to maybe use it as a cosmetic overwrite for your weapon after unlocking the forge. I'd even say to definitely donate the first ancient seed bevause you'll get one back + the recipe (as others havr mentioned). The farm fomputer is another item you wont need/which isn't that useful until later and you will probably get more dwarf gagdets until you unlock the recipe :D

You get both the recipe and a seed pack from donating ancient seed, and the dwarf gadget comes in normal geodes and is fairly common, and by the time you are likely to get your first gadget you are still far away from even unlocking special orders.
When you donate an ancient seed to gunther he does give you both the recipe and an ancient seeds (the one you can plant) so just donate when you get it it’s fine. Plus it is kinda useless without the recipe since it is just a random artifact without it. While the other artifacts on this list have uses outside of donating to gunther. Ancient seed’s use only comes from donating it to gunther
even better - give ancient seed to Gunther, and you will get the recipe for planting that seed, but do not use it until you get a greenhouse and deluxe fertilizer for maximum money making.
The Ocean Stone is good to keep as well if you want a Midnight Squid fish pond (a steady source of squid ink). The Ocean Stone is required to level up the pond. In one playthrough, it took me forever to acquire my second Ocean Stone. Now, I duplicate all rare minerals in a crystalarium before donating them. Don't know when I might need that rare mineral in the current or future versions of SDV.
I feel like ancient seed doesn't make sense here. Gunther gives you ancient seeds for donating and after that, you can just get more ancient seeds from either harvesting the one you have, seed makers, or finding more as artifacts. Not really a great reason not to give the first one to gunther.
Hey love! Just wanted to let you know that you definitely CAN get anything you donate to Gunther back ON MOBILE! It’s a weird exception but I’ve accidentally taken multiple things home while I was donating and had to run back since “Gunther now had to tell me more about them” again😹

or be me: get an antient seed on floor 3, day 6 on spring 1. Donate it to gunther to plant the antient seed. Keep one fruit so i can turn it into more seeds when winter passes...And then get another antient seed in the same season. I am not joking, this happened
The ancient seed info isn’t necessarily wrong but it is pointless. Your reward for donating your first ancient seed artefact is, in fact, a pack of ancient seed that you can use to grow your first one. So there’s no need to hang on to it.
My first ever playthrough, i wanted to go in mostly blind so other than the initial videos that got me interested in the game, i didnt watch anything else... Week 1 of my first world, my first donation to gunther was a dragon egg cuz i didnt know what it was. It took till year 2 for me to find a second, smh.
You know what would be a really weird interaction is if you had to have the green stone thing and the meowmere in terraria then you can use the faraway stone in Stardew and it removes your meowmere from terraria It is a semi-hard item to get in terraria but it could be yet another nod to Stardew in terraria I do think it’s the first nod to terraria in Stardew though which is interesting seeing how many there are in terraria
The ancient seeds one makes no sense at all, it changes nothing if you keep the first one or not because if you donate the first one then you can just turn the second one into seeds… plus he gives you the plantable form of it for the donation alongside the recipe anyway.
