This video is very helpful and informative. I will be using this kit soon on parabolic glass reflectors; the outside, convex side will be re-silvered with the open end facing down, resting on two wood supports. Is it important to try to cover the reflector's bottom edges with silver and copper? Could I dip a small modeler's paintbrush in the waste runoff and dab it on the edges? The pieces I'm re-silvering all had a silver and copper layer along their edges under the backing paint. Can the edges be bare and just covered with backing paint? Should an edge sealer be used on them before covering with backing paint or vice-versa? Thank you.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. You can partially silver the mirror, you do not need to have the full surface coated. We do not recommend that you dab the waste runoff on the edges as that could introduce other issues. It would be fine to have the bare glass on the edges coated with the Mirror Backing Paint. We do not recommend that you apply an edge sealer before painting. Thanks!

@@AngelGildingcom Thank you. I have your drip silver and galvanic copper backing kits, and your gray backing paint. It seems that beautiful results are possible even for a rookie as long as the directions are followed. One thing I've noticed with your kit is the silver layer does not have to be allowed to dry for 24 hours before the galvanic copper layer is applied. I'm looking forward to beginning the processes. Thanks again.

Is the silver backing required underneath it or can you use this on parts of glass that don't have silver as the backing-or even any backing, can it be applied just directly on glass and still turn into shiny copper like that?

Hello, that's a great question! This form of Copper is only meant to be the protective backing on Silver. We do have Bright Copper Chemicals that create a reflective copper mirror. You can find them in the Colored Metals section of our website. Thanks!

@@AngelGildingcom Oh that's great! And thanks for responding so quick to such an old video! :D So to be sure, Bright Copper works directly on glass (with the sensitizers)? Is there a video of _that_ process? :) And, I'd still like to know if you can you use this and bright copper on partial mirrors , like "silvering" (coppering I guess XD ) an already half-done mirror? Like to make artistic patterns of more than one metal type? :) So I guess it's two questions now: • If I use this on the exposed glass part, will it stick? (It could be nice to know if I can use it in a pinch even if it's not the brightest :) • And if I use Bright Copper on already-mirrored parts, will a bad reaction occur?

What particular chemical / chemicals mixture is "galvanic copper concentrate" ?

Hi Andrew, the best way to better understand our chemical mixture is to review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) on our website. We do not share our full formulas, but you can learn more about the chemicals this way. I hope this helps!

Does the mirror have a copper look to it? I’m trying to obtain that look on a bottom of clear glass to make a mosaic
@AngelGildingcom
@AngelGildingcom 6 лет назад
Hello, thank you for your question. This form of copper is applied to the back of a silver mirror and therefore through the glass you see the silver, not the copper. It is not traditionally used in a front surface mirror. I hope this helps!
