Burts bees chapstick is also another option for lubricating zipper. They do sell zipper lubricating sticks as well.

I used chapstick on my sticky zippers. I just run it along the open zipper and it works for me. It helps if the chapstick is not brand new and hard , but a little soft. I run my chapstick under warm water, then dry it off before using. Your advice is good too. Tfs.

If you use saddle wax on the zipper pull it will darken to match the rest more xx

Thank you. I was looking for a fast non-staining result on a jacket made out of what I believe is parachute fabric and implements a plastic zipper. The zipper had reached a point of requiring a very heavy pull as though the zipper teeth were melting. A few minutes of your suggestion to use Wax Paper gave a satisfactory result.

Paraffin wax is probably a superior lubricant for zippers and bike chains and other things because it's totally slippery and non-sticky. Bees wax is actually made of fat (bee excretion) is sticky - and if it's not white - those are contaminants. Just take any candle and rub it on top & bottom or melt in a water bath and use something like a toothbrush.

You can also use an old chap stick :)

You can also take a lead pencil & carefully draw it along a closed zipper. Run the zipper backwards forwards several times. That usually does the trick. I would prefer this rather than metal polish. Not so messy. Be well.

New checklist: craft store bee’s wax, wax paper, & Brasso 2 clean cranky zippers & have them zip more smoothly. Old wives tale: use a bar of soap, use olive oil on a paper towel. I’ll go with your ideas so I don’t damage the fabric around stubborn zippers which I have an over abundance of bks my love of vintage, usually eBay sourced, museum, haha, like me😊collection of designer luggage, handbags. Thank you❤

Thanks Autumn! Question. I have a preloved trousse I just received. It’s looks amazing on the outside. It is very sticky and little tears only at the top of the inside. Do you think I should take all the lining out? Or do you have any recommendations on how to repair it.
