I kind of slapped this video together super quickly. I was almost finished when I realized what I was doing could really help others. Let me know if you have questions!

Does taping it on really work ? Doesn't the UV-light destroy the glue ?
So you mean to tell me that when the lcd screen gets damaged (with spots and such) all we have to do is replace the light filtering part of it and keep the lcd part?
Thank you sooooooo much. This was amazing. I have EXACTLY the same problem. Going to see if I can get things working again. Maybe it'll succeed, maybe it won't but at least you give me hope and a path forward.
Seems impossible to find a polarizing film for 8.9" screens like the Mono X! Very frustrated that I had to spend $150 to replace the whole screen just because I can't find a polarizing film that will work.
Just ruined my polarizing screen without realizing it. Manual said there was a screen protector, there wasn't. How well did this work for you while you had the printer? Did you get a a lot of successful prints?
Yes, I had the same issue with my Mono X! The soft polarizing film bakes together with spilled material, so its absolutely impossible to clean the display anymore. I have an old ELEGOO Mars aswell. This display has a hard like glass surface. Spilled resin can be easily removed using a rasor blade. But here my question: Isn't it a solution to tape an extra FEP directly over the display? Spilled hardened material can be easyly removed from it and that would protect the sensitive display.
Thanks for the video! Just to clarify, the link provided above for the film did work, correct? I was a bit confused by your step-by-step description. I look forward to hearing back.
I this with a 4K epax printer because the FEP broke and resin went on the screen. Rotated the film so the least amount of light, and taped down. It seems like some adhesive inside is needed to keep all in place because prints had small failures. Support for EPAX is the worst. Elegoo Saturn support is the best. I have experienced both.
Never heard of this, so I had to find a video. It showed what happens when you use the soapy water vs not. The barely tint scrapper push sounded HORRIBLE
@@BannisterLee yup but tint like most polarizer has a film to protect it on install (smoother cards etc can still scrape and all that). If there was no film a bit of fep would help
Thank you so much I thought I had to buy a new lcd screen because I give resin on my screen and scrapped to had and peeled that layer off and I cried and was gonna spend $150 for a new one
Man, the only video I found managing to explain what the hell hapenned to me... That was exactly my situation: perforated FEP. After scrapping, I realize there was another "protector" film over the lcd. Did I forgot to remove that second one?? I removed it, and printed again!! But... the whole fep was cured, and some printed areas completely destroyed (printed with a screpped patron). Yet I could save some the prints, but what the hell happened?? And you just explain that on your video: It was a polarized film!! Thank you. The new LCD is on its way, but maybe I can save this one...
therein lies my main issue with why this video is problematic. you clearly removed your polarizing film. bc he never shows ppl, it's VERY VERY easy to make this mistake. It seems you spilled on your polarizer then "Scrapped" your film off while trying to get the resin off. the layer you think was "protector" WAS the polarizing film. this is why you had a full fep cured. the entire screen was exposed bc you took off the polarizing. If you scrape resin off, try out one of those flexibile metal razers first. you shouldn't need a straight edge on a screen. that's your LAST resort. and if so, start with a #54 scalpel. but a hard straight edge really should just be avoided at all costs. even if you tried what he did in this video, it's impossibly difficult to get the film in the right direction. you did the right hting gettting a new lcd.
Wait. what? You can just tape it? Ah, man! My car radio had a halo on both front and rear polarizers. After removing both and their glues, the replacements went on adhesive side to glass ... with bubbles ... crap. If I had known that I didn't have to use the adhesive, I would have left the clear plastic sheets on the adhesive sides and just taped their edges to the glass. Garrr. Maybe next time. Thanks for the video, Make:.
I'm using an elegoo mars 2. cured resin stuck on the screen. but while removing, the film slid. then the tape came off. then i discovered there is a clear film on it(with the cured resin) it's completely stuck and i tried peelin off the resin but it broke the film. so, i want to know if this is just a protector or the polarized film itself? it's not gray or dark. it's clear. and when i turn on the printer, it shows the same UV and greyish shine -like look (which btw, hurts on eyes if you try looking it, and yes, for the sake of this post, i looked at it.. man, for the love of 3d printing)
Here's a tip. Apply an iPad screen protector over the entire screen and polarizing filter before you spring a leak. Seal the edges with Kapton tape. That way, when you get a leak, you just clean the screen protector and don't risk destroying your polarizing screen.
Thats what I did and made no difference, I had a tiny slow leak and the resin seeps through the tape and kills the adhesive and screen protector and still ruined my screen,
Edit: this is one of those videos that will bother me for eternity. until i see you put that polarizing screen on, I'll have a hard time believing you got this to work given you cut out THE most difficult parts yet told ppl you did something and tht's possible. It might have been. but don't tell people you did something as if it's a tutorial then omit the most dangerous part - which is something you acknowledge yourself calling it "Scary". I'm open to this being possible but until the polarizing goes on with a camera on, its irresponsible to believe. Not to mention showing you not scratching the screen taking a straight razor to it. I wish you showed what your polarizing film looked like. did you have another video with it? i've noticed over the past year, many ppl don't actually know what polarizing film and quite a few confusing it with the screen as elegoo didn't announce it but saturns started going out with a screen protector on them last year. not saying you made that mistake just would like to see how bad it was
So what happens when you’re an idiot, install a new screen upside down, ruin that film and peel it off not realizing it’s the wrong side? Is that just polarizing film too?
