I have always wondered about a feature like this. I am a package designer and I hope Adobe will continue to support packaging design in feature updates.

Yes, it's substantial for packaging design. If there are features you want to have, then the best thing is to post them to Uservoice to make the engineers aware of what you need. And also get other people to vote for your feature requests, so that they know what the community needs.

This is great! A little feedback to make it even better- It would be awesome when not working in full scale- to be able to edit the text for the dimension values. For example, when putting tech packs together- would be fantastic to be able to reduce the full size drawings and be able to adjust the dimension text to the correct values. Thanks in advance for considering this!

Biggest issue is you have to be very accurate from the beginning. If you are not accurate you cannot reposition the end points of a dimension tool and have the values auto update or have a refresh option to update. When you try to reposition is is not easy and often you lose the Dimension properties once the lines are moved. Its good start but a long way to go.

Hello. Is it possible to see in Illustrator how it might look when folded from the fold line on the pizza box? I am also trying to make card holder designs, I have to print and fold it to see how it will look when folded. I wonder if there is a possibility to fold and see it on Illustrator without printing. If you have a video about this, I want to watch it. If not, and if this is something that can be done, which tool would you recommend me to investigate?

This is not in Illustrator. ESKO has this. And there is this project, for which you would have to apply: labs.adobe.com/projects/fantastic-fold/ Of course you could check out if the Mockup feature or the 3D effects work for you but both would require considerably more work.

Yes, I’m on UsersVoice, and had an important feature for packaging which is being able to create a shape using the Mesh gradient tool as well as Gradient tool and then make a 3D object, Ai now doesn’t support it. I even had top Adobe tech walk through in my computer to show them it’s not working , previously Photoshop was able to do that, but since January as you know Photoshop no longer support 3D, everything has shifted to Illustrator. I was trying to export an .obj file to send to Adobe Dimension.

@@007Yasir And even if you could make a gradient mesh into a 3D object, then the next step would be to keep the coloring. What you can do is get back the path from the mesh and then make that into a 3D object. Then apply the mesh as a label to it (in Dimension).

@@Vektorgarten I have tried, but in this particular case of mine, I designed 5 pita plastic bags, I wanted to add folds and wrinkles to it before exporting as a 3D object. With the mesh tool i can creates a very realistic plastic, just using 4-6% K and white , but can’t make a 3D I get a warning: “3D and materials, effect currently works only on some object types, and cannot apply as multiple instances” I have shared that with Adobe engineers few months ago, as well on UsersVoice, from that I have received a request for an hour interview with Adobe appointed research team on my use of 3D and packaging, they sent me a check for $75👍. So hopefully it is in the works. It worked in Photoshop before.
