It's okay to build boxes in Space Engineers, and this video is going to show you how. We're going to take you from a boring old box to an eye-catching base you can be proud of.
You can buy Space Engineers at www.humblebund..., where your purchase can support both charity AND future content.

Something wich i found works Great is adding some Supports to a Wall, even just some half Beams going upwards brings in depth, details and the option for adding another Color
@GleebTorin
@GleebTorin Год назад
That's an excellent tip! The beams are great for that, they're so visually distinct from other blocks.

What I always say: "Purpose makes aesthetic" To explain: lighting, depth, breaking monotony, shapes on shapes, movement, coloring, etc... can serve an actual purpose other than aesthetic so the creation will beautify by itself

This right here is what keeps Space Engineers interesting, I can't tell you how many times in my 1000+ hours I just slapped down a 10x10 box for my new, "Utilitarian" Mars base lol Love the video, thank you for introducing some flavor to more peoples', and my own builds!

(In some moments I can repeat from the video). From my experience, I can only observe how a frame box was erected. It's not just about the details, it's about the shape of the construction itself, sometimes no matter how hard you try, you can't cut the maximum relief you want from the plane. you need to give more additional shapes and details. it's also important not to overload the construction with too many details and make better details where it matters, otherwise it will be chaotic. Ergonomics can also play an important role in the design, depending on what you want to get out of it, you don't have to build a huge room rad several plants and containers of equipment. If you survive without any danger, you can use the equipment as additional decoration, if you can use it properly, you will save a lot of resources and space. If you are frequently attacked, it is better to hide everything of value under the base by drilling a hole (can be unreliable in some cases!). It is better to use sturdy blocks such as door blocks and heavy armor as exterior decorations. with the right play, you can make an impregnable fort. I hope I've explained it clearly, and if I haven't, well... You can find all the examples online and in the workshop to build your base based on their solutions.

What kind of block is that ? how do i get those little thine frame arround my blocks? i dont get it :(
@GleebTorin
@GleebTorin Год назад
I use a lot of blocks in this video, but it sounds like you're referring to the armour block, the basic building block of the game. The thin trim is there by default. If you're not seeing it, you out the server you're playing on may be using mods. Let me know if I can give you more specific info.

Is that first wind generator setup really optimal for power?
@GleebTorin
@GleebTorin 4 месяца назад
I do believe so. Wind turbines need 8-ish blocks of clearance on a flat plane around their axis of rotation.
@main490
@main490 Год назад
what mod are you using to build?
@GleebTorin
@GleebTorin Год назад
This video was all purely recorded without any mods, but it was done in Creative mode. You can build lines and planes of blocks by holding combinations of Shift and Ctrl and holding down LMB when placing your blocks. If there's something you see me do in this video that you'd like to know more about, just ask! 😊

How do i make the line/planes things?
@GleebTorin

When you're placing blocks in creative mode, holding CTRL lets you place a line of blocks, and CTRL+SHIFT lets you place a plane.
@LionHeart-Gaming

how are you placing all the blocks like that by dragging it
@GleebTorin

Dragging blocks like that is possible in Creative mode. You'll need to hold CTRL for a line, and CTRL+SHIFT to make a rectangle.

Who cares about looks? A box is very efficient, and as an engineer, efficiency is key. The game is called "Space Engineers", and not "Space Designers" or "Space Artists". 😀 No, seriously, nice tips. Making diagonal trusses out of beam blocks adds a lot of interest as well, at least for me it breaks up the "box on box on box" style quite a bit.
