Thank you. I need this adjustment. This is the only place where I've encountered this adjustment. I'm curious as to why no one talks about it.

Hi Alexandra, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Years to you and yours. This is a great subject! I heard Diane Diezel talking about this difference in the front and back neck with before, but I didn't really understand the reference in balancing the pattern. Question please; Should this 1/4" difference in the width between the back and front neck widths (after making adjustments ) be added to, or shortened, against the total shoulder width? Maybe even an adjustment on the length of the arm holes? I'm worried about preserving the measured shoulder slope height against the bust depth. Ease in the wrong area might distort

Your videos are always excellent as you're such a great communicator and you talk on key topics and theory that really help the home sewists. This is why your courses are so good.

This is really great, thanks so much! I have problems with gaping necklines (front and sometimes back too) and the end of the shoulder sticks out too much. I have done narrow shoulder adjustments and found that I also had a gaping front neckline - now I know that this adjustment likely goes a long way towards solving both these problems! That's really intriguing. I suspect that I still need to narrow my shoulder width a bit (obviously on the back too) but balancing the front neckline should help. I do have a full bust, often do an FBA, and the gaping made me wonder if I could possibly have an issue with a hollow chest (I didn't think so though) - this very much helps my understanding of what is going on. Thanks so much again!

Why do I feel the need to keep pulling my dress in front? What is the adjustment I need to make in my pattern or sewing? Plz help.. Thanks

Mala Anand - This means that your back is “needing” more fabric and its “taking” it from the front. Check for forward facing shoulder adjustments. This basically means that you need to move your shoulder line forward on your patterns. Also, adjust the angle of the shoulder line on the back pattern (making it more horizontal) to give more room for your shoulders. Hope this helps!

@@AlexandraMorganInHousePatterns Hi again... We have a very dear YT contributor who does so many adjustments to her pattern that it is hard to imagine that it is anything like the commercial pattern. One of those adjustments is for a rounded back. My mom had one, but I don't... errr yet? Does a rounded back automatically qualify for a forward neck adjustment too? After watching your video, it looks like the two adjustments look like they would naturally go together. Thanks Alexandra Love from TO
