Thanks for using the metal rings because everyone on RU-vid are using the silicone rings. I have the metal rings and by watching this video I get a true since of what to expect.

I have some silicone ones too but have always preferred how the metal ones do personally. Have fun cooking and thanks for watching and commenting!

On the silicone ones, I'll spread a bit of the hof melted butter onto the inside. Good to see the metal rings.

So the trick is to cook slowly? And what did you spray on the ring at the beginning? olive oil or something? what is non-stick spray? thanks
@garretthegriddler
@garretthegriddler 7 месяцев назад
I always preheat the egg rings on low heat and the non-stick spray I use is the generic version of Pam. The stuff in the baking aisle in a spray can like thing haha I pretty liberally spray the inside of the rings too, especially where the handle attached to the ring. Hope it works out well for you! I think I'm going to try this. I've been cooking them in silicone cupcake molds in the oven but I think they're too dry that way.

One thing I like about doing them on the griddle like this is you can always squirt water around them and put a melting dome over them and let them steam. Cooks quick and stays moist and tastes great haha I hope they work out well for you! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

so you dont have to flip the egg or is this just for sunny side up eggs?
@garretthegriddler
@garretthegriddler Год назад
I get the heat on as low as it can go in most cases and just let them cook through slowly. On most griddles this will be plenty enough heat to let them cook through good. If your griddle is pretty hot even on low then I I preheat and turn it off and let the residual heat do the job. To speed up the process I sometimes like to take the melting dome and squirt a little water and cap and steam them. Usually there is no need to flip after taking the ring off. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@garretthegriddler thanks for the info i am getting ready to get one of those things of amazon ... does it matter if i use a frying pan vs a griddle?
@garretthegriddler
@garretthegriddler Год назад
@@freddychico3621 concept is essentially the same for pan or griddle. Only thing I'd be worried about is if it's a nonstick skillet is that the rings may leave a shape on it. I've only ever used them on cast iron so I can't say for sure on that one. As low of a temp that's needed for frying an egg it should be good though. As long as the rings are oiled well and the edges have set decently they can be removed anyway to finish cooking. Good thing with egg rings is even if it doesn't come together as you get comfortable using them you can still scramble the failed attempt 😅 Hope this helps!

Aren’t the handles to pull off, not for storage like you said. Did you place the rings when the grill was cold then you switched the grill on? Or was it preheated?
@garretthegriddler
@garretthegriddler 6 месяцев назад
Whoops...my bad on that 😂 You are correct. I have done it both ways and it seems like as long as the egg rings have had an opportunity to heat up (either preheating them along with the griddle or letting them sit for a couple minutes on a preheated griddle before adding the eggs) and you spray them well with the non-stick spray they release pretty much the same. Seems like a heated egg ring helps the egg set on the edges so they don't run from underneath the ring as they cook. My outside griddle is still pretty hot even on low so if the edges set quickly and the inside is still liquid I like to squirt a little water around the outside of the ring and put the melting dome on top to help steam it finished before it burns. Hope that makes sense! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Shew I wish my channel had the budget for bacon up and bacon 😂 seriously though bacon would definitely make it better just lather up the ring in greasy goodness and go to town haha thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
