New subscriber! Just tried to wash my GoPro battery but realized it stopped working. The next day I tried this and it works after a few minutes. Thanks so much. You save me 300
Thanks for this! Another worthwhile tip is to use a vacuum cleaner in "inflate mode" and shove it in a sock along with the GoPro. Leave it on for awhile (rubberband the sock and vac hose) and that will get a lot of water out of it.
Thank you! I got my gopro 7 back to life again. I dipped my gopro without realizing the usb door are out. It turns black and not working. When I used a blow dryer it works again.
I had all of my doors shut and the mofo leaked and shut down. Wish I had seen this video yesterday when the water damage happened. I put a fan on it and that got a lot of water out (after I shook it prior and got water out). My LCD (front panel) still has a water spot on it so I will try this method.
I dipped my hero9 into the water to record a minnow. The door had a slight leak, and took in a drop of water. now my cam dead! SAD! I am going to try your blow-drier tip and hope for the best. 🤞. It worked for you with that much water…. I may have a little hope of recovery. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome. I just had to do this to my insta360 X3 too. Had the damn door off it to run it off the battery bank while kayak fishing. Then dropped it over the side at the boat launch. Thank goodness this worked again for me. Haha
After you realized it was not working anymore, did you try to put the camera back on? I think my GoPro 8 got a electric damage because I tried to put it back on.
Thank you this worked for us last night, we were so happy. Unfortunately our Gopro won't turn on again in the morning 😔. It doesn't even have a red light anymore when we plug it in.
I would let it set for a couple of days still. And could it be the sd card? It may need to be replaced if it is the same card that landed in the water.
that method works, as long as you dont turn on the camera after the water is already inside. If you do you can still be lucky but tipically water is good conductor and will short circuit internal components. So what you always should do after water damage is ...Do not power on. And aplly all the methods you show on the video until it is completely water free. Only try and turn it on once it is completely and 100% dry. And yes it works for all eletronic devices. And i must add....carefull while having very high temperatures (Blow Drier) directly over LCDs over long periods....better use the blow drier cool air function.
This has worked for me twice on this same GoPro and once on my new insta360 X3. I had the side charging plate cover off and it fell into the lake at the boat ramp. So yes this does work. Thank you for watching.
is your go pro still working until now? The water will corrode the circuit once it made it way and even if you dry it corrosion will remain unless it is cleaned.
I am not sure it will work for salt water. My GoPro was sunk in the lake. But it is still going strong. Thank you for watching. Hit that subscribe button.
Did the same thing as you rolled my yak and lost about $800 in gear and two GoPro hero 8 blacks. Hate it when I get in a hurry and don’t stop stuff down.
Good video!! I had same problem. because if water leakage the front display of my gopro hero5 black has turned off. could you tell me the sequence of buttons to press to activate it again through the configuration menus on the front screen? As your LCD is working, if you could give the key sequence I would really appreciate. I wrote to Gopto Support but they only gume instructions to factory reset and sw update. User manual does not provide all configuration options, so I am desperate. Many thanks
All I did when it was dry was to make sure the sd card was out, put in a fresh charged battery, and hold down the power button. Held it down for about 39 seconds or so and it came on.
my sd card dried and worked.. my gopro was on a battery bank with no battery in it.. if the battery got wet i would recommend replacing it.. Good luck with the SD card.. Hope that woks for you too..
I’m gonna try this now, Charles. Wife has the same hair dryer. Did you use any heat level or just the cool setting? Nevermind. Just heard you say HOT. Mine is a 7 Silver. So it doesn’t have the big opening for the battery. I’ll let you know if it works. I just hope it doesn’t melt it. That’s HOT
Hope it works. Mine is still going strong. Just used it again today. Video to follow. And if people want to help you, let them. It is not a hand out, it is friends helping friends.
Not working !! I did like in the video and nothing changed. My GoPro was in the swimming pool for a few seconds and it stopped. It's black since. Not turning on, not charging. 😪😪😪
mine didnt either.. i let it set for a few days then this worked for me.. that gopro is still working and hits the water every time my kayak goes out.. sorry it didnt work for you..
I got a go pro 9 for my trip this past week and it got water inside in its first use and the battery door was shut sealed I was just 3 feet deep of water smh
Same to me but my hero11 first dip in water got damaged straight and everything was sealed tight. Very poor quality waterproofing. Did the rice trick and camera works fine just battery needed replacement. But now i can’t just use it to film underwater… anyone with same issue?
@@shaneramnarain786 Yes...Hero 7 Black. All doors were properly closed and the second time it was in water it leaked. Should have tried to SOB underwater while I still had a warranty. Ugh..
I took a (loaned to me) GoPro 7 black snorkeling and got water into the go pro. I tried a lot of home remedies and nothings working. Anyone know of anybody that fixes these things?
Worked great for me. Still using the same GoPro. Mine was dumped in a fresh water lake. Battery door was off and everything. Best of luck. Thank you for watching.
@@michaelragon3352 I don’t think the blow dryer gets any hotter than the GoPro does working out in this Texas sun. Rice never worked for me. But the blow dryer with its warm air dried mine out just fine.
