Sorry about the smoke guys! That was me in the black truck... I was having a hard time building boost with a big single and tight converter. I knew it was going to be an issue with everybody at the line... I tried to keep as minimal as possible but, in doing that I only left on about 10lbs of boost where I usually leave at about 20, so it left like a pig... then dropped fuel pressure going into third gear (you can hear it start popping) so I let out nd rolled the rest of the way. The truck runs high 10s on fuel only. Both issues have been fixed since this race, I do my best to try and have a clean 1100hp diesel... sometimes it doesnt work out though.

Those turbos are as big as grocery carts! dang! I myself have a 2004 black Chevy Silverado extended stepside truck that's lowered about 3-4 inches and I've always thought about putting a single turbo in it. Damn I love my Silverado!

The 4-71 blown 4.3 was AWESOME. Props to that guy! Makes me want to mount a junkyard M90 on my Ford 4.0 OHV 2wd ranger. Keep it ratty & classy ya know. Of course we know the Ford will only make 1/3 of the power of the chevy 6, fully built, but hey

I'm just gonna say this. Some of em were dope asf. But honestly it's not always about hp. Fine tuning for gear and rpm points is where it's at. My 2 cents. My 07 silverado lh6 currently runs 12.6 at 124 in the quarter and 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. N/A all the way. Imagine what I could do with a twin turbo setup. And that's street. I haven't done much more than a bully dog tuner, disabled afm, custom true duals, and not even a cold air intake yet. I'm gonna be replacing the pistons with high comps, and I only run 91 pump gas. It's pretty quick but not like all these I see. I can't wait to do more to it. Need to get a better fuel pump. And beef up the transmission. I'm gonna leave her with stock set gears but different material. Not sure on what to do yet. I daily drive it right now until I find my 57 pickup.

Question for more knowledgeable people, why don't the truck drag racers put weight in the back in the bed, say like sandbags? I understand weight savings and what not, but I'd think putting something like sandbags in the back would help keep the rear tires stick better and not bounce or skip around like the trucks seem to do down the track. I ask this because my dad and his friend back in the day built an old el camino and he said they had to put sandbags in the back just to keep the back down and stop it from bouncing and loosing grip

I know this is old, but I have a PSA for the diesel guys. If you're truck rolls coal like a friggin freight train, do everybody, including those that WORK the track, a favor......Put an upstack on your exhaust so that nasty shit blows straight up instead of straight in peoples faces.

That 4.3 sounded like an 8 cylinder, couldn't tell the difference. So what was the set up with the 4WD, he obviously could take it out of 4 buy watching the burn out. Can't be the stock 4WD from normal pickups can it.

Does he launch in 4wd or 2wd? If 4wd, does he stay in it the entire race or switch to 2wd during race?

Being engulfed in tyre smoke is one thing, but being engulfed in Diesel smoke is just fucking disgusting.

Too bad that track couldn't hold the power, almost every pilot had to pedal hell out of their hotrod to go A to B.

Imagine how much power than 4.3 could make with a M90 or other modern blower. a 4-71 is so old and inefficient. Diesel drag trucks have to make a bunch of smoke so you can't how bad they lose.

Biggest problem with diesel is you can't see a dang thing.
