"playful little studies" she says. for me they're works of art! Great lesson - can't wait to get home and try this out. Why didn't I discover this channel sooner??
This type of quick study exercises in past years has lead me to explore in a totally different avenue and have fun. I find it loosens me up and allows for trying out a variety of colour cravings and shape/line explorations. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for another inspiring demo! Have been following your videos for quite a while. Love your work, and so appreciate that you Do Not fill the time with endless chatter. 🥰🎨👍🏻✨🇺🇸
i’m shocked you are saying these are not masterpieces!!! i love them soooo much they are wonderful…i just added you to my list of my all times favorite artists that include rothko, cy, franz, jackson and newman
Just received and devoured, Abstract Painting: The Elements of Visual Language. This is so well written that I felt like I was having private lessons. Thank youJane Davies for sharing such valuable information!!!
I’m impressed with how these little experiments are transformed with the addition of fine detail like the lines and spatters. (Not to mention, cropping!) while you might not consider them finished works, they are certainly a level up from just playing. I will certainly try this soon. Thanks!
Do try them. Any techniques will do, but one key is to LIMIT the number of techniques you are using, and limit your time on them. The other key is to let them be NOT good, NOT finished.
This is spectacularly beautiful work Jane. Thank you for this simple study tutorial - I may use your advice to work on small paper pieces to be framed.
What a wonderful project! Especially on those days when I’m not sure what I want to create. These although beautiful on their own oils inspire a larger piece.
Thanks for this inspirational video Jane, I’ve lost my creative mojo under the pile of life for quiet awhile and feel that old familiar excitement looking at your video so thank you very much!😊
Wie schön! Ihre Werke sehen fantastisch aus. Sie zeigen, wie man spielerisch, und doch überlegt, ganz wundervolle Arbeiten anfertigen kann. Herzlichen Dank dafür! ❤
One of the hardest things for me is to let go and not overthink but when I do, I have the most fun and other feel a sense of liberation. Plus, there’s also the possibility I’ll end up with something really cool. If not, it’s not the end of the world, I can just paint over it or use as a background for adding other layers. It’s [and should be] all in the name of fun!
Wow! Wow! Wow! my first time to find you. I am attracted to your style, boldness and vigor to express yourself with your techniques. formation and vigor to create. I surely subscribed and will be watching more of your videos. They style is just open and energetic. Thank you for what you do.
I go through buckets of Light Phthalo Green - it's a gorgeous colour. Especially when used with transparent red iron oxide. Happy Hogmanay from the Scottish Highlands!
@@andrewfrost8866 Never thought of that. Thank you for the suggestion. I use blocks of butter wrapped in paper but I know someone who buys Lurpak in a tub so will ask them to save a couple of lids for me.
Fresh and fun! On Watercolor paper? Gessoed? Am thinking I could take a larger piece of w/c paper and "score " off smaller pieces with masking tape to create a little series. Thanks for the inspiration!
What do y'all do with your artwork? I have hundreds of paintings, collages, greeting cards, matted paintings. Just sitting in a closet. I live in a small town that still isn't doing art shows. What to do with all my work? I tried social media but that was useless. I've given my friends so many paintings I'm sure they don't want any more
Actually, michaels had them near the Gelli print supplies which were directly across from the rubber stamps. Having them myself tho, they don't work much differently than old credit cards or a spatula for drywall you would find at the hardware store. Just use what you have. It's the idea behind it, of just pushing paint around with a flat service as your tool.
