I love the no tool simplicity of Quicker Stuff rack, but when I priced it out with enough trays to carry four bikes it was almost $2k. 😳 I ended up with 1up as it was about 25% cheaper for the same four bike set up.
Thanks for the great video Clint! I have a OneUp and I used WD-40 Teflon spray and it cured a lot of the sticking/friction issues that you are experiencing.
Great video. I personally have the 1up bike rack. Double and 2 addon so I can carry up to 4 bikes. Just my opinion but I think the 1up is the perfect bike rack. This mach2 is very expensive. $2000 total for 4bike rack is crazy $$ and it’s also heavier then the 1up. The tool free feature is great but the special Allen key from 1up isn’t a deal breaker. Both racks are great but for the price and weight, I think the 1up wins.
I was taken back by the cost. But now that I have had it for a few months. Worth every penny. So well engineered, easy to use and sturdy while traveling. I would recommend to friends and family.
A great trilogy of videos on the QuickRStuff rack, Chris! The point around the rear derailleur is a good one and not something I have seen any other reviewer mention. I think a great use case for this rack and those styled the same is for moving heavier ebikes. Specifically regarding the fat tire ebikes, one measurement that I often don't see on manufacturers sites is the width of these racks from tray center to tray center. This would be a great measurement to add to your reviews as with these bikes we need to not only worry about high contact points like seats and handlebars, but also lower friction points on the frame and shocks. Some of these well built racks can handle the weight of these heavy fat bikes but they simply do not have the space allowance between trays for these fat tire bikes to fit side-by-side without some very damaging contact occurring. Keep up the great work!
The beauty of these racks (I have the OneUp) is they can be repaired. I was rear-ended on the ride side of the rack thankfully with no bike and I was able to purchase the rack tray and 15-degree plate for $100 although I was reimbursed for a new rack, I was reluctant to just toss it out. 95% of the racks out there would have to be thrown out.
I’ve owned Quikr Mach2 rack with two add-on racks for 7 months. Today I discovered the locking mechanism would not unlock, no matter how many times the key is turned so it is permanently locked on to the main rack. It seems other Quikr owners are experiencing the same. Having only used this particular add-in 2-3 times and for the key locking mechanism to fail is concerning.
Again, another great video. Also, as I am about to purchase this rack it seems that you opinion of the rack has not changed with time, if so, maybe gotten better. That's unusual, lots of opinions change over time as use increases but yours hasn't, that's a ringing endorsement. I wish there was a way that I could share with QUIKRSTUFF that I am buying this rack because of your 3 reviews! THANKS!
Thanks for the review. This rack was on my radar, but after seeing the negatives, I feel that those things would drive me nuts. Especially after spending double the cost of a 1up. I am considering the Saris MHS and RIG'd Ramblerack. I'm just looking for something that is built well and easy to use. I think everything should be smooth to operate at this price point.
Will it work with a swing away mechanism ? I travel in a truck/camper setup and need to open the camper door without removing bikes. Appreciate your thorough research and relaxed presentation style.
E-bikes are generally 65 to 70 pounds. The Quik Rack Mach2 also has a ramp for easy loading of bikes onto the bike rack. Unfortunately, it appears that none of his "review videos" of the Quik Rack appears to show how the bike ramp works.
Thanks again Clint. Does the single rack need to be level? My left side is slightly lower that the right side. Tried jiggling the rack, pulling pin out then positioning pin back in hole slot, tried securing with latch while jiggling rack in place and still an uneven bike rack. Hope you can advise…..thanks
Have you used other racks in your hitch receiver? I’ve sometimes found the aftermarket hitch receivers can be slightly off which causes the rack to not look level. I don’t have a problem with my quickrstuff model not being level.
Probably this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CnKDn0opZU4.htmlsi=1SfKMAMDZwe8QEc- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wvQTm_dCp5k.htmlsi=TBu_VkC26GV5Hu36
So how is this rack for heavy ebikes and bikes with fenders ? There are several negative reviews on the 1up rack with heavy ebikes. Is this any better ?And many road bikes especially ebikes have fenders. How about a review showing something other than mountain bikes.
On their FAQ section of their website (quikrstuff.com/faqs/) the give specifications for bike weights depending on how many bikes you carry, and there’s a section on fenders.
I really would like to test one. I reached out to them a while ago to see if they were interested but they weren’t able to send one at that time. Perhaps in the future.
Probably, as long as the rack does not extend too far out. But I have not tried it so I cannot guarantee. If I were you I would contact QuickrStuff and possibly send them some photos so they can verify.
I have lectric xp1.0 with rack and fenders. According to quikr stuff you can crank it down on the fenders...however, I didn't feel comfortable with that and trimmed my fender and cut the bike rear rack and now I can crank it down on the tires. That's just me...
Great concept this rack with all it's features etc.. Maybe a revision to upgrade the lever raising the rack. I know my wife or daughter couldn't pull it like you demonstrated. Some relief on the wheel tray, albeit broad range of bikes, to avoid rear mech contact.. won't always remember to drop the chain to smallest cog.. just saying. Thanks for following up with this review. 👍
@@ClintGibbs do you know if any other racks that don’t have this issue I have a Kuat that still interferes with the other bike without making adjustments to the bike.
For me it’s the ability to add another tray or 2 or 3 in seconds that makes this rack stand out. Not for everybody I know because of the price but for my lifestyle it’s a huge timesaver.
Do you use your rack with an ebike? I'm considering this rack but concerned that it requires 2-handed operation, leaving the ebike without a supporting hand to balance it. For this reason I am considering the Kuat Piston Pro X
Yes, the Saris MHS is better for one handed operation. I have a video coming out where I do a head-to-head comparison of the MHS and the Mach 2. That comes out a week from tomorrow.
