Quicksilver Messenger Service- Fresh Air REACTION AND REVIEW 

I like it. Soulful and nostalgic.

Surprised to find out that Nicky Hopkins was in Quicksilver - he really did get around. When he was starting out in England, Nicky Hopkins was in Sweet Thursday with Jon Mark, and was featured in the band's only self titled album, with their hit song "The Dealer".

I have a Best Of disc of their music and for me this is the stand out track. Great pick.

Ah...the great and greatly underrated QMS! Together with Jefferson Airplane, they perfectly capture the essence of San Francisco in the 60s. For some reason, I don't see many Airplane reactions out there in RU-vidland. For me, the albums After Bathing At Baxter's and Crown Of Creation are the Airplane at their best. Hope you get to hear them sometime.

I was just about to reccommend the third Jefferson Airplane album. The whole album. Maybe for a Long saturday. It's one of the most exciting albums to come out from that era. And from any era. Please try it. Happy Trails and QMS debut are great, and in 1970 se can still feel it.

I'm a sucker for that undisciplined SF guitar sound and John Cippolina likely encapsulated it more than anyone. He could be a touch too lazy at times, as he was prone to not tuning his guitar at all. This odd approach to his instrument was the reason Man finally gave him the shove. I still dig that attitude, but the main man of the 'Frisco scene had to be the acid blues sound of the highly underrated Jorma Kaukonen!

Not a deep song but it is a good one. It was another FM radio song, being too long for much AM play. Thanks for listening to it.

Quicksilver became more of a pop kind of band when Dino got done with his jail problems and marijuana bust's. I prefer QMS without him, (1st album and Happy Trails) I think you reacted to Pride of Man, you should try Gold and Silver, The Fool, And the loong version of Who Do You Love. Gary and Dino were pretty good friends and they both kind of shoved Cippolina to the back of the stage and I think became more interested in being rock and roll stars. Just my opinion, anyway their still a major favorite of mine.🤠🤞

I've never been won over by the whole Californian psychedelic scene. Not my stuff !

Yeah it has that 60s San Fran sound that I've never been into, kinda scattered and unfocussed with crappy guitar tone. Not for me. 🙃

Not dreadful, just ordinary. I just kept hearing numerous other band here, which is always a distraction. Early Mac, Black Magic Woman, anyone. Not to mention the 3D's... The Doobs, Dan, and Doors. Nope, nothing to interest me here.
