I have been working to quiet down my prusa XL printer. In my previous video I used sound matting and a moving blanket to stop all the metal sheets from vibrating like a big speaker box. • Prusa XL Sound Reducti...
This time I tried to tackle the nextruder. There is a bit of wondering and discovery shown, but the basic short version is that a lot of the noise was coming from the fan. It is only directly connected on the top left side. Stick something under the bottom right side, and it will wedge it in place and prevent rattles. The second offender was the main plate behind the dwarf board. Stick something back there and you will kill most of the noise. See video for full details, feel free to ask questions.

Thanks for this, it seems like quite an oversight from Prusa.

Awesome video! I'm going to try these on my XL5T. Not trying to be annoying, but one thing you may want to consider especially for foreign viewers, is you are pronouncing silicone as if it were "sili-kun", rather than "sili-cone." For people speaking English as a second language, the proper pronunciation may help them a bit as I have seen confusion on forum posts before. The 2 are completely different materials - silicon is hard and crumbly and used to make computer chips.

What is the orange material you use? It looks like wax, the silicone earplugs I know keep their shape, do not deform like this. How is this called? Also very annoyed by this resonance more so because I live in a small apartment. Thanks!

They are silicone ear plugs like the ones linked below. They are squishy, so you can press them into your ear... or 3d printer. You can get them a lot cheaper from your local pharmacy section. a.co/d/9mu3OW8
