Amazing fly, Charlie! As always! What do you think about changing the hook to TMC 212 to get the rear end ride a tiny bit lower in water?

Is this style any more buoyant than say a Klink?

Terrible fly. No one should use it.......but I'll keep it alive for posterity's sake....you're all welcome.

Charlie thank you! I have a question. I’ve been trying to do a hackle stacker the way Devin Olsen does on his foam front end loader. Seems like I keep getting my hackle biased to one side of my post or the other when I secure it down. Any thoughts? Thanks

Question- I can never seem to find a feather that is as long and thin as the one you used to wrap the hackle around the post. If I want to keep the hackle fibers short as appropriate for the hook size, then the length of the overall feather is too short to get enough wraps, and when I get a long feather, the fibers are much too big for the hook size. What exact hackle material are you using? Thank you very much. great video.

This is a Whiting rooster cape, though a saddle would work well also. Whiting feathers are genetically bred for fly tying and are exactly what you’re looking for. Feel free to give me a call at the shop and I’d be happy to explain further.

Super cool looking profile, but that’s a lot happening on that short-shanked hook! 🤕🎣 Thanks for sharing!

This is insane for me because ive only been tying for 5 months and i have to try this already. What else do you jave like this as far as difficulty? I was tying parachutes with-in 3 months. I just tied my 1st size 22 parachute about 2 weeks ago and that was so hard for me. I was referred to you by my fly shop owner who is absolutely awesome. Thanks for having this channel my good man

Awesome fly tying Charlie, Great tying as always with your videos. Been watching them for about 4 years now, very nolageabl. Have tied many of your patterns. Have ordered lots of products from the fly shop, very satisfied Have talked with Lil Charlie every time. Enjoy all your articles in Fly fisherman's Mags. I know that you are a very busy man, I thank that you need to be the next Fly Tyer of the Year. What an Honor for your Resamay. Take care an be safe!! Respectfully Peter E.

Checking how much hackle you wrap around the post before you start wrapping back down is so important for this fly. It’s Very easy to crowd the hook eye, but so rewarding when you get it right!

I've only made one attempt at this style of hackle. It seemed to be a lot of extra work for a possible slight improvement in buoyancy at the top of the fly. It probably does create a cleaner profile from the bottom though. I'll try another, it's probably just a matter of getting the technique down.
