Most the wells I have worked on in ND use Baker plugs for fracking. One of the easier ones to build on site. Makes things nice if you can slap 3-4 together and be good to go for a shift.
Hmm, when I was working wireline, the ball was placed on the top of the plug and then put on the setting tool. I was not aware of a type that involved dropping the ball from surface after setting the plug. Interesting.
you could also put it in the plug but if you set the plug and have a misunderstanding and the guns don't shoot your screwed and coil tubing will be out there to drill out the plug. It's risky , that's why your suppose to drop the ball afterwards.
