@@thovearntsen5205 there are 2 reasons why this might happen. A) you might be pulling the coil off your tool instead of pushing it off, and therefore making a tornado. B) when making your coil, the edges of the coil are uneven. I suggest you slow down and make sure the edges line up as your coil to ensure even tension throughout. Please let me know if either of those tips help you.

@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I will made some snowflakes as well as Christmas trees. Only this time I am going to be more careful with how I protect them. Last year I used Mod Podge and all my beautiful circles were ruined. I was bummed.

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that happened! I’ve never used Mod Podge before. How it ruin the circles? Was it too wet? How do you plan to protect them this time? I’ve seen some people enclose snowflakes in clear plastic bubbles.

@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie My nicely quilled circles, with the middle of the circles lined up, all turned into a big circle as if I had used a pencil or a quilling buddy only smaller in size.

Welcome to quilling Rebecca! The glue will not permanently stick to plastic cling wrap because plastic is not porous (unless your glue is meant for gluing plastics). Gently pry it away from your quilling, and it should release. @@PaperZenCeceliaLouie a bead weaver is a person who weaves beads into beautiful creations WITHOUT a loom. Just needle and thread and tiny little beads! I love it. Very detailed and very relaxing.

@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I don't make my own beads. I have thought about it as I love most anything that is glass. But me and fire... that's a no - no. I hurt myself with just a glue gun. I can't imagine using an actual flame! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@KelRawson Oh yes, I've seen that kind of detailed work before - that is intense focus! I can see myself easily losing track of a bead count, but also loving getting lost in the details. I've been tempted to dive into paper bead making (wider quilling strips = jewelry), but also trying to tell myself to stay on track... squirrel!

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed my tutorial Patti! The numbers found on the "Quilled Creations Circle Template Board" are a circle size, not a unit of measure in inches or centimetres. It's just a quick visual guide so you can remember that you use a number 3 for a certain part in a snowflake, for example. If you look at the 4th photo in the Amazon listing (www.amazon.com/dp/B001689MYK/?ref=exp_paperzen-cecelialouie_dp_vv_d), you'll see the measurements suggested for the length of paper that fits the size of circle. So 8 to 10 inches of length would fit the Size 3 circle, for example. I can't find an explanation the for dashes, so I'm going to assume they are simply there to visually tell you which circle sizes are the same size. Without the dashes showing you which ones relate to one another, you could in theory get the blank circles mixed up. For example, the top left and top right circles are "0" (the largest), and the six circles between them are "1". The dashes between the "1" are linking them together so you don't mix them up. I hope my explanation makes sense?

After my friend saw it, we have both looked again, but I've never seen it again since. I have bought the Darice bottles but the nozzles are slightly different. They friction fit on top of the bottle, not thread on like my Michael's one. It still works with my Aleene's Tacky Glue though, and I haven't had any problems for years. However, I've heard that Darice will be closing soon, so I'm not sure how long those bottles will be available. Other fine tip nozzle bottles might not be the same "gauge". That's how they measure the fine tip opening. Some people told me they bought another brand and the Aleene's glue won't come out. I can't comment on other brands because I've never bought them, and some listings don't mention a gauge size. Anyway, loooooong answer that I hope helps you find the right tools!

@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I have a Cricut Maker. I make cards and have started cutting appliques for quilting. I just started quilling and I was glad when I found your RU-vid videos. There are a lot of books on quilling but nothing beats a video showing each step. I'm just about to test your .svg for making quilling strips. I like that I can create my own quilling strips. The Stardream paper you recommend has a white core. I assume the cut edge does not show the core?

I don't see many hybrid projects out there. Hmm, I took out both my Stardream Text and Cover weights, and don't see a white core. I even took out my iphone and enlarged the photo, and still don't see a white core. I bought mine in Canada, but I wouldn't think they'd make them differently per country.

@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie I haven't bought any Stardream paper yet. I was searching the internet for sellers since the Amazon source was very pricey. I thought I read on one site that the core was white and that's why I ask the question. Upon further research, I can't find the site that gave me the misinformation. I will order paper tonight knowing it is not white core. Also, I'll modify the .svg quilling strips object and have the Maker score the strips that need a midline.

OK, I hope it works out for you. I wish my Explore did a better job of scoring, but I found it to be inexact and not deep enough. I'm sure your Maker will do a much better job of scoring. I look forward to seeing what you make!

Just wading into this but interested in paper flowers, cards and quilling.

LOL “wading” is a good description. There’s lots of fun stuff to make for hours, and limited only by your imagination. Flowers and cards is how I got started too.
