That’s was my thought too. I love seeing all of the different tricks that Luthiers do to get that angle.

Hi Dave, I route the neck pocket after carving the top because I want the floor of the pocket to be parallel with the top. I route the pickup cavities after the pocket because I need to be sure where the neck is going first. There are other was to do it of course, but this way works for me

@@ADFinlayson makes sense now.... so I presume for a guitar with a neck angle you would plane that into the neck pocket area before attaching the template and routing the pocket?

@@davethain885 correct, there are a few ways to do it. My method is to shim the front of the body and run it under the drum sander.

lol, there have been easier tops to carve.

I like to avoid tools that create dust where possible, otherwise I'd use an anglegrinder and get it carved in a a fraction of the time

I don’t build kits but even if I did, I would not be able to deliver to Russia

If you are going to express an opinion, can you be more specific on what is so ridiculously stupid? I thought this build process can only be completed mostly by hand, since it's not a mass production factory will million dollar tools.
