One day I'll do something fab with my “Salvage Collection.” When I began saving salvage my quilting friends thought I was off the wall! Now it's the “thing” to do create so many fun things!! I love your ideas, everything you do & share. So much fun! Happy Father's Day to ALL of the Dads & Gramps! The world is a better place with our Dads & families❤️
Sew cute. Makes me wished I would have saved my salvages. That’s one thing that I never have done. May need to rethink 🤔 and save enough for a wall quilt. Thanks for sharing
I love this idea! I’m thinking about making one of these spools for each quilt I finish. It would let me keep track of the fabric I used for each quilt. If I do that every time, I will have a nice spools quilt in a few years 😂
Sew Yeah! Great project, maybe you should offer to teach this as an online class for Sew Yeah. I'd certainly take it. Even if you don't I'm going to start cutting off my salvages from yardage before I start my projects. I always think I'm going to then forget so they wind up in the trash.
Thanks so much! I really like this! I was surprised when you didn’t do the stitch and flip with your selvages. I like your method better! I am working on a quilt, but I am almost finished, so I may have to give this a try!
Honestly, I did it that way because I started at the top not the bottom. Either way is fine I suppose. Although, I do think it stays flatter the way I did it.
I was thinking about making 4 or more of them in the same shades ( reds) an then another color grouping ( greens) for another spool to make a wall hanging for my sewing room. Liked your spool.❤❤
Love it! You found the perfect binding fabric for it! I just picked up a book by Diane Knott called Strip Quilt Secrets which has a selvage spools quilt in it. I do like the shape of your spools better than hers, but the quilt is pretty amazing!
Hi Sheri. I love love your wall hanging... i already have my selvedges sewn on to that white... cant think if word.. sewn in full legths. Was wondering what to do with it. Niw i know. Great idea. Thank you for measurements and great tutorial. Love using our stash. Have a great day. Hugs.
I have seen selvedges used but starting the ‘other’ way - i.e. starting at the bottom and laying the next one on top and going up. Think it may be easier - just a thought 🤔. Love finished result anyway
This is a great idea and demonstration and it is on my to-do list. However, your fabric choices make it way too busy for me. I can't see a focus. Different tastes. Still an excellent demo.
