Love all the pastels. You have an amazing talent of being able to pull things together from what seems like little and make it into something fabulous!
So glad that your beautiful quilt has found a good home where it’s going to be loved 💖💖 Thank you so much for sharing your quilt making journey with us 👍 I’m always inspired by the things that you do 👏👏🇬🇧
Yes, quilts take time to make and your time is the greatest gift that you can give; especially to someone you really care about. Beth, this quilt is lovely and radiates through the beautiful colours a sense of softness and peace. It will bring your granddaughter much joy and comfort knowing that she is snuggled and safe under a quilt that you made for her with love.
Beautiful and in the original spirit of using what you have! When I need to destress, I spend an hour making string blocks from my leftovers, and all is well in the world again. I wonder how many blocks I already have ...
I have made this pattern on 8 1/2 inch square paper patterns. I have never thought to make a center strip on each block in the same color. With the center strip all being the same color, it makes the quilt much more interesting. This is a beautiful quilt.
Thanks Beth. I needed a brilliant idea to stretch the last few bits of fabric to bind the quilt I've just finished. A scrappy row of strips cut on the diagonal may just be the answer. Love your colours for this one. Fabulous.
What a sweet, refreshingly feminine quilt! It's like walking through a spring meadow of flowers. I am curious why you didn't use foundation paper to make the blocks instead of using whole squares of the sheet, unless you just wanted the extra weight. You would have had a lot more of the sheet left over. Your pieced border is so much more interesting than slapping on one fabric. This is going on my to-do list, for sure. Thanks!
I love your videos! They aren’t too long but I learn something in each video! You have helped me get my sew-jo back and I’m using up my scraps! I’m so thankful and grateful I found you, have a beautiful day! I just love being in your sewing room and seeing your process and all your beautiful projects
It looks great, Beth. I stand corrected. When you first started talking about putting on a scrappy border, I did not think I was going to like it. I thought it would be too busy. Because you used the same color values, it looked just right. Thanks for sharing your ideas and skills with us. It is much appreciated
Love your videos and love watching your videos ❤️. Happy Sunday . Beth if you don't mind can you wear a 🎤 because I have my volume all the way up and can't hear you. When you are talking about sewing a quilt. . Love watching your videos.Your quilt is so Beautiful love it.
Thank u for showing your beautiful organic way of quilting. Keeping it low cost and real is very encouraging to me. Thanks again for the work it takes to make a video, much appreciated.
Oh Beth this is beautiful! I just love how you take scraps and make something so beautiful. My favorite color is pink also. It is one of my favorite colors to wear. My Daughter and 3 Granddaughters have their own favorite colors and it isn't pink! I pick thier favorite's for them and they know right away who I made the quilt or pillows for. I'm not as fast or prolific in quilting as you are but I try my best to get to my sewing room at least once in the week. I sometimes make totes or zipper pouches also but have many quilts to work on. I still continue to watch quilting shows and dream of even more! Blessings and Prayers for you and your family and the women in your quilting guild. I would love to hear more about them some time if they would be willing to share a meeting or projects sometime. Thank you Beth.
Funny story, about 2 days after you posted this I happened upon a pink sheet set at my local thrift shop. It was $5. I cut the useable parts into 10 inch squares and then used up scraps. I’ll tag you on Instagram so you can see how it turned out! Thank you so much for all your videos! 💕
Beth, thank you for another inspirational quilt! I thought I noticed that you use some selvages in your border strips. I was told not to use these as they wont wash up the same as the rest of the fabric. I thought I saw the color key from the selvage as well. Do you use selvages?
A perfectionist would not use the selvages...I do sometimes. They are very tightly woven and are a bit different. I usually cut them off but this little piece won't be a problem for me.
Very pretty 🤩👍👍. Beth I have a PQ1500 brother machine I’m try to free motion on it using connection threads cotton thread, batting n fabric . My machine does a few stitches then skips a long stitch n sews normal I have ripped out sooo 😡 many stitches in last 3 days. I’ve changed needle tried all sizes rethreaded adjusted tension on top knob to middle purple area n it still skips any ideas anyone please . 🥺
When I have that much trouble…and I have! ….I take it to the sewing machine shop and have it looked at. Sorry to hear you’re have so many issues. NO fun.
It’s wonderful. But can you tell us why you left the pink sheet as a foundation rather than adding strips to strips of pink in center? Just curious. Also, what kind of sheet is this? I bought a vintage quilt that was finished with a cotton quilt for the borders and back, but the sheet wasn’t as stretchy as the vintage fabrics that were used, so the quilt stitches tore away when the quilt was used because the sheet just didn’t move enough, like the original printed fabrics did. Sadly I had to let that quilt go because it was too much work to fix. I’ve been scared to use sheets on my quilts because of my experience with that quilt I had bought. Lastly, can you bring your volume up? I find I have to turn your videos up much more than others. Then, when the advertisements break it, they scare me to death bcuz the volume has been turned up so loud from having turned up your video so much. I love watching, but do you think you can fix the low volume issue? 🙏🏼 oh, I really hope so. Thank you!!
My video editing program made some changes and I am learning how to adjust . I’m sorry the volume was an issue. I can’t tell there’s a problem until it’s already on RU-vid . 😐 I used the cotton sheet as foundation because it gives me a size guide as I add strips. 👍
How sweet this $1 pink quilt is!!! I love the foundation square and adding the strings. You are truly the "queen of thrift " with this beauty! Thanks once again for sharing your creativity!
