The Carr Family is a very generous and hard-working group. My sons were lucky enough to find them, when they lived in OH. Go DC!!

Carr vs Monday is similar to Starochi vs Mehki Lewis- both so good that it appears there isnt any action on their feet. The pair are just so good regarding their offense and defense, it's difficult to score. The difference is in the mat. In these elite matchups, those putting work on the mat make the difference.

Yeah these matches always come down to riding time. I think if they got rid of riding time or made it where you had to get back points during the match in order to get the riding point. I don’t know I just have never liked the riding time point rule

I love that Carr went to Monday’s dad and shook hands. Lots of respect here

Still kind of weird to me that we had a match between a 157 and a 165. I guess it’s mostly because Monday was listed as a 165 to begin the season and Carr was also at 157 last year. But still odd

Carr is 165 this year

Quincy decided pre match to drop back down after. Changed things. If he lost? Eh, no big deal. Dropping anyways and if he won. Still irrelevant

Both superb athletes, superb wrestlers. But they both were superb at avoiding wrestling. They both did everything they could not to win, but to not lose. You don't win championships that way.

Nope. It's pretty common for top wrestlers to wrestle more defensively when they are up against someone at their level. RBY is an amazing wrestler, but he basically stalled his way through his last three matches against Austin Desanto. He won all three but wrestled like he was afraid of losing while Desanto pressed the action the entire time. RBY should have been hit with more stall warnings. But he still won the championship in the end.

I lost count of the number of attacks they both shot off, did we watch the same match? Maybe the first period was boring but to me this was high level collegiate folk style between two VERY close competitors….

@@lexingtonconcord8751 I've mentioned this for a couple years about RBY. It's the same with Max Dean. They wrestle not to get caught in a mistake. But I don't agree totally with that consensus opinion about all top wrestlers. It simply isn't a solid winning strategy. Imar got decked by both Vincenzo and Nolf, all three top wrestlers. They weren't pulling punches. When Retherford beat Steiber it was an overtime win if I remember correctly. Anyhow it was like 2-1 or3-2, very close but even they were all over the mat. There was scramble after scramble after scramble, they didn't wrestle not to lose, they pulled out all the stops to win. I can respect 2-1 if they wrestle to win. I have no respect for 2-1 wrestling not to lose. You've heard the expression, "Don't leave anything on the field." Lewis lost last year because his style is defensive (only). Sometimes I recognize it is a strategic necessity. But I submit it should never be the only tool in your toolbox.

@@kenneth1755 I totally agree with most of what you said. I gained great respect for Desanto for the way he wrestled RBY. Also, I didn't say all top wrestlers win like that, I just said it's common.
