Cheech Vyas and Kevin Chipman are college buddies who decided to quit their office jobs, that confined them to cubicles, and head out to St. John, a beautiful Caribbean island. They decided they wanted to brew beer and enjoy life. EX-Pats follows their journey from cubicles to paradise.

Great show! I like the fact the host asks the real meat and potatoes questions about how to get funding and about how difficult the startup phase is. I was half expecting a lot of the hard stuff to be glossed over, but I'm really surprised by the balance of the show.

Excellent story!! Beautiful place! However St John, Virgin Islands is part of the USA still. So technically speaking they are not "Ex-Pats" of the USA. However good on them as most people never will attempt to fulfill their dreams. A++++

Its funny, my family home town in Goa is kinda like this. Big house on the beach, surrounded by hills nearby. So many people are jealous of it, but I can't stand to live there for extended periods of time. I like my modern conveniences like plumbing, hot showers, fast internet, etc.

I also want to leave the U.S. but won't their be the paying taxes to U.S. problem. I think only the U.S. has it citizens pay taxes on a out of country income. How do people ever make it paying two income taxes.

Hi guys! I just want to say that I loved seeing you guys swimming underwater! I also loved seeing the waterline showing when going all the way underwater and coming all the way out of the water at the same time because of the wave! And I also loved the part where the waterline was showing when going all the way underwater with you guys and one of you was waving underwater for real and seeing people swim underwater and seeing the part where the waterline was showing when coming all the way out of the water with you guys! Your ignoring cost can food when i was last there. IN ABOUT 2001 A can corn was 4dollars usa. Green beans 5 dollars. No food can be sent thru mail because cant afford postage . You wouldnt know that unless went there looked. Of course gona bragg it it up. It is beautiful. Big BUT???

The first $95.1k you earn overseas, you do not pay US taxes. Look up foreign income exclusion and then click on the link to the IRS page. Sorry, but I don't believe I can include a link here even to the IRS web site.

I read a lot of travelogues, and have discussed with my wife leaving the US as it transitions into an economically collapsed socialistic police state. I've noticed most expats head for hot tropical locales, but we're dreaming of a snowbound log cabin in Northern British Columbia, or maybe a bungalow in some cool rainy spot in Tasmania or south New Zealand.

The definition of "expatriate" is "a person who lives outside their native country". So even if it is a US territory, it is not the physical USA, so they are considered expats

+C.S.A .Independence™ you really are an idiot. They don't pay federal taxes that's why they have their own irs. And yes they can't vote for president but they can vote in the presidential primaries. Historically territories were excluded from voting for president for numerous of reasons. They are subject to the statues congress makes hence why the VI doesn't have its own constitution like Other states and Puerto Rico. They don't have a different government. You're talking to a guy who studies Political and government.
