Given flop checkback with over-pair (you're under-repped) and Qd blocking a lot of opponent's high flushes, I'd value bet river almost always here. GL with the vlog! Subscribed.
Thin value is ok in that spot I think to target Tx or even maybe JJ. 88 and 77 might hero sometimes as they’re blocking the straight. If we get X-raised then we’re in a tough spot, but we have a clear thin value bet after underreping our hand on the flop.
Value bet is ok, live is more a read on the player, is he sticky so calling with say top/top or tight and checking for pot control with even sets with the flush card coming on the river. Although the value bet shouldn't be put in without deciding if your calling a check raise or folding, if your calling then a lower amount could induce, a larger bet probably rules out the check raise bluff. Without player knowledge I check this spot against general theory, because the information gained from seeing his cards is valuable.
Easy easy value bet because he’s never checking better hands here 99% of the time. Never calling a xr in live poker. Just curious, are you calling if he bet big OTR?
Over 30 hours put in. Even though there’s plenty I can improve, I wanted to make sure it met y’all’s minimum expectations. Goal’s to be the best vlog in production quality, entertainment, and commentary. Hope you stick around!
Hi Gino and Friends. I’d love to dedicate a full video to it. However let me give you the main key points in the next vlog. Lots of commonly asked questions.
@Duncan Donut Donut imagine living life scared to make decisions. I’d take your question more seriously if you don’t compare me to Rampage just bc we’re Asian. Weak and low level jab.
@Duncan Donut Donut it's only insane when you compare it to your financial situation. If he can beat the game, which we'll find out, he'll be making way more than his "$180k" job. Remember, he's only netting $90k with his job after taxes. Mariano posted how much he made last year just from poker alone, and it was about $150k net. That's not even including RU-vid, merch, and whatever other streams of income. So, the jobs the financially insane option here
I believe Mariano. Crushers can clear 200k pretty reasonably with deep stack middle stakes. Also Gospel made a good point. We file taxes as business owners and our liability post taxes will be favorable under same gross earnings. I think people really miss that point.
Can your brain be more dense? And once again, I never made any comment about Rampage. You made a comment grouping us together bc we’re Asian. You’re welcome to stick around. Hope you can find a reason to relax and enjoy it. This’ll be my last response to you either way.
I stumbled across your channel today. While I've been on Brad's, Rampage, Marianos channel, I like the details you provide in percentages, equity and outs. As a newbie to GTO, this is very helpful to me.
Erick. Thx for the inspiring words. This channel can be whatever you guys want it to be (considering that I’m still authentic to myself). Episode 1 is me thinking out loud when I play. My hope is that most people appreciate it and I can continue with this route. It’ll also reinforce what I know/dont know and what I can improve on.
@@JWINPoker ya man I agree. To be noticeably different but also noticeably more entertaining and interesting to watch…do stuff they don’t do. (Equity, outs, etc). And make it visually+ vocally as well! Would be dope!
Really impressive for a first vlog. Love the style, and your casual confidence. One minor note, the sound was low for mid session update, just need t amp in editing. Subscribed, and excited to see where you go.
I’ve had so many great questions. I’m prepared to share my private life with you all. Hope you give me a chance to put this piece together. Thanks again for the feedback.
Hey Anthony. Thanks for the kind words. Promise to put in work to make this enjoyable and helpful for everyone. Hope you stick around for vlog 2 coming soon!
Hey man, stumbled on this video this morning. Just wanted to give a heads up on something I noticed, how you've been holding your cards could be a live tell. You hold your cards tight and raised when you're good or think you're good. When you're drawing or bluffing you cover them with your hand but they stay flat on the table. Just a friendly heads up, keep killing 'em bro. Great vlog
following. I remember your old gambling days at mandalay bay in sweatpants. those were more concerning times but looking like you are doing well here. keep it up
Just randomly came across your video! Hope you do great things...me too I quit my job last month with the poker dream in mind so I kind of can relate even though my stakes are way lower. Hope it turns out ok for you, already subscribed! Congrats from Portugal 🇵🇹
Just subscribed and im here for the journey, been really into poker this past year and this would be my dream to quit my job and focus on poker. Good luck on the journey as well
Thank you Cbass. Can you help me with this question? When you think about the best 3 vlogs. What are they doing that I’m not? What would make this more enjoyable for you?
I watched due to the title, but was disappointed not to hear why you quit your job, what your job was, and why you think you'd like poker better as a career, and other basic info about who you are. Other than that (which I hope is coming in a future episode), it was a very good vlog #1. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to cheering you on in your journey.
Dave, I have a video in 3-4 videos from now that’s going to go deeper into the subject. People are asking similar questions and although it goes deeper into a lot of topics personal to me, I feel like by then I can tell my story freely. Didn’t mean to be click baity here. Thanks for the feedback and hope you stick around for it.
@@JWINPoker OK - thanks. And yes, definitely don't reveal too much personal info. I'll stick around for a while, at least for those 3-4 videos. I'm just suggesting some background helps you tell your story, even if it is something like "I've been playing poker recreationally 20 hours per week and getting decent results and believe I can succeed in poker".
@@JWINPoker I was going to post a very similar comment as Dave's, but glad to hear you plan to discuss it in future videos. 180k is obviously very lucrative and not many poker players in the world can expect to earn as much or more than that in a given year. I've personally found that poker is much more enjoyable and less stressful as just a side income rather than a primary means to survive, so it certainly raises eyebrows when someone says they gave up such financial security to pursue something where even the best players in the world periodically struggle through downswings for months on end. On the other hand, no amount of income is worth it if one's job is soul-crushing and requires 70+ hours/week or something, so maybe your choice was a no-brainer. Would be interesting to learn more. Good luck.
Great first vlog! I'm also in a similar spot where I have a really cushy corporate gig but starting to fall in love with this game of cards and trying to figure out what to do with my life. Will definitely follow your journey and learn everything I can from someone who committed and went for it! Cheers man
Thx J. I’ve got a few DMs with similar sentiment. I’ve played profitably since Nov 2019 so a lot of data and bankroll building already happened, which made my decision a straight forward one. Some people may prefer to take the plunge but even w business entrepreneurs, seems high probability if one does it part time and grind enough profits/success before going both feet in. All the best and stay in touch!
@@JWINPoker Awesome to hear and see it's working out for you man - You're an inspiration, been following you since seeing you on the Texas streams. Looking forward to future vlogs!
My personal advice, from grinding out a living from 2005-2008, is not to do it. It becomes grindy and monotonous after a while. If you CAN make a profit, fine, play on the weekends, after you're done with work, whenever. But devoting ALL your time to the game is a pursuit that rarely works. Additionally, as a paradoxically as it may seem, it will be more fun when you DO get to play.
It's a bad idea. Don't quit. Oh sure it will be fun for a year or so, but do you actually want to be spending 40 hours a week in a casino waiting for two other guys to stare each other down? Yeah it's a good game but consider if you would quit job to play chess full time even if you love chess. You have to *really really* love it, because to make more than 180k, you're going to have to consistently beat 5/10+, game/casino select, and put in volume.
Hey JW. Thank you for your question. A lot of similar asks. I’ll start working on a video but may need some time to make sure I answer all questions. Thanks and hope you stick around.
Nice start. Something is up with audio levels, especially noticeable when watching on my TV (which I often do) -- in your room/office is good/loud but hand review is very low. Good luck.
Hey Jwin! Calipokernia shared an IG story about you and I'm happy to follow a fellow poker player/vlogger! I started with short format content for now, but look forward to creating vlogs as well. Well done on the quality of the first video and congrats on taking such a huge leap of faith, leaving your job and going pro with poker! Would love to hear more about it and watch your journey. P.S. Just a small constructive feedback to work on your voice over audio level, it was a bit hard to hear you when you were talking about the hands. Other than that it was easy to follow you :)
Totally hyped! Glad you have a vlog now! Personal friend of mine plays with you from time to time and says you’re a solid player. Good luck with your vlog👍🏽
Quitting 180K job for Poker!! Lol 😂 Quit dreaming , keep your job , u will never make 180K in Poker playing 10/20 in the long run . U probably need to be a winning 25/50 player to make 180K an annum. Variance will even out , u will end up going broke , will develop psychological stress blah blah . So keep your job, play poker on the side for fun 🤩 where u can afford to lose.
It’s all good. You don’t put yourself out there without the few going against you. I’d love to earn their subs if I can. I’ve been posting a ton of my results online and play on all the big streams. If you know, you know. I’ll be alright.
@@davidvoskovsky7089 I know guys who quit decent 75K/year jobs , got into Poker , Quit their 75K/year job, went broke multiple times , borrowed money from almost everyone in the Casino/Poker room. Wasted 4-5 years of their life, now that they wanna go back to their previous life , they can’t as they are depressed & can’t start it all over again. Once u get into this sick gambling habit , it’s so hard to quit.
Thanks Andrew. Vlog 2 on the way. Lmk what you think! Won’t take the early supporters for granted and look forward to making a great channel for y’all to watch.
Life is short and I wish you the very best on your new adventure. Great Vlog and poker graphics. I love the way you do your videos. I'm already a fan of your videos. Keep up the good work and I'll be in the back seat.
Congratulations on following your dream, I don’t think enough people do that in this life and as a result there are a lot of really unhappy people. Good for you! Good first vlog and good thought process on your hands. Poker is a total learning experience. I learn something new every session. It’s a great game for all of us adrenaline junkies! Good job Jay!
Thanks Michele and hope you tune in for the rest! Finishing up vlog 7 now and it should be online tomorrow. Re: poker, I’m definitely living the dream. It’s hard work but so fulfilling. I’m looking forward to sharing my journey in full view w RU-vid.
I ACTUALLY REALLY LIKE THIS VLOG BRO KEEP GOING THIS IS A GREAT IDEA I KNO HOW IT CAN BE TAKING RISKS & NOT KNOWING WHETHER ITS THE RIGHT CHOICE OR NOT. YOU WILL HAVE 100k SUBS IN NO TIME & WILL REPLACE THAT 6FIG SALARY FROM YT & POKER WHAT A DREAM ENJOY THE RIDE💯
I’m here playing 3D chess and cynics thinking I really quit my job just to make the same. Thanks for your support. My journeys gonna be a good one. Hope we can continue to chat about it, Tony
Good job! Great content. Like another person said would be interesting to hear what was the process like leaving your job and going full-time pro keep it up man !
Thats what you call a natural!!😳😳👀🙏🏾You got Raw Talent!! what did you do before poker? how did you get better playing poker with your limited experience!? Keep up The great Work🔥🔥🔥💯
Your river checks/bets are all over the place. No matter how thin the value is put a price on it don’t let them see your hand without a price. For your bets there massive and seem to excited for the board. Good luck brother
I really like the whole thing. You showed some interesting hands, how you think it can do it differently. You deliver it well. I’m also one of the many that wants to improved my game . Thanks . Keep it up.
Hopefully you get a lot of value. I’ve worked hard on my game and there’s some good stuff in there to share. Thanks again and don’t be shy! I’ll try to answer as many comments as I can.
Skull ? Its Charles from the Lodge chat ...I missed a few streams than tried to come back and I have not been able to see a stream in months..I'm confused. Are you guys streaming still ? I am still subscribed. Hope you and slick rick are doing well ...Jwin , nice video buddy !
The river with the Queens is a check almost always, and a call if villain bluffs depending on if he is the type to find bluffs there. For the Queen Jack hand, loved every moment until the river. A large bet there is fine, great even, but 2x pot is just asking too much from a range that clearly is weighted to top pair good kicker and some two pairs. I think a little under pot, something like 1.1K gets called nearly every time, maybe even a little over, something like 1.5k. Very high quality for such a new vlog, some things to consider. 1. The volume levels are quite weird, the moment when you stepped away from table was very quiet and your voice when explaining hands could be a pinch louder. 2. Consider adding music, the hands are interesting but the lack of music makes it feel kind of empty. Things I love 1. The overall layout of hands along with the history is awesome, love the graphics here. 2. This vlog is very professional, and feels smooth to watch. Great work with the camera. If you iron out the bugs and find your flow, you WILL be successful doing this. Excited to see where you go from here.
Immediately enjoying the content. Superb analysis with a natural and personable approach to vlogging. Before long you'll be up there with your predecessors. Hype to be one of your first 5k subscribers. Looking forward to more. Good luck, my man.
Rob. Means the world to me. Promise to put in work and make a cool channel for you guys’ entertainment. Hope to see you around the other vlogs! Have a grear weekend.
Patrick. Thanks for the comment. Vlog 2 is done recording. I just need to edit graphics. It’ll drop really soon. We got 4 others that I’m going to take a short vacation for and edit.
Great Vlog! Crazy Game...the pots go up Quickly! Good luck on your journey. I am fairly new to poker and absolutely LOVE the game! Look forward to watching your vlogs and hearing the commentary. I am sure it will help improve my knowledge and my game. I have Liked & Subscribed! Thanks again.
Glad to see a new vlogger. On the queens hand I think you can bet quite a bit since you had the queen of diamonds, and seeing a diamond on the turn isn't that big of a deal. Also your 3b rance wihh have 99+ in it so you have tons of sets and overpairs on this board not to mention a lot of suited Tx and some straight draw hands like QJ and gutter straight draws, and not to mention suited AX of diamonds. I agree with your thoughts on your river bet here, checking back here is best as played I believe.
No doubt bro. That's great that you started a vlog to capture ups and downs. I play locally in Bakersfield CA. Nothing major 2 times a week if I can. But it would be amazing to play pro.
Hey JWin, this is sick, I’m subscribing! Glad you made the leap into the blogging space! What was your study plan for poker, and how did you know you were ready to commit?
In short, I had 2+ years of solid winrates. Bc I made enough in my day job, most of my poker winnings remained in the bankroll so I kept moving up in stakes. That’s pretty much the gist of it. Study wise, it’s a long answer but in short: I have a coach, study in a small group, and play lots of online poker reviewing my strategies often as it’s all in a database. I’ll do a longer video on this sometime.
So glad I tapped on this video! I recently retired from a career in construction management to play poker full time myself! May your cards be live and your pots be monstrous! Cheers from South Florida brother!
Very interesting first vlog. Good luck! I'd allow myself to make one suggestion - other vloggers usually put at the end of the session "money in/money out". It's going to be interesting to show this kind of information, whether the session was successful or not.
Info was shared at end. It’s my 1st so I don’t have the whole structure set up but it’ll be more clear going forth. Thanks for the feedback and I hope you stick around for vlog 2.
I really like your HUD. It's clean and soft on the eyes. It's the best from the many poker vloggers I watch. If you'd like some feedback here it is - I recommend putting some space between the community cards on the board, instead of side by side. - The top and bottom padding for the cards seems too small. - You can afford to make the action log on the left just a little smaller. Most of its width is just padding, you can chip a little of that space
JWIN, some how I found your first video. Really glad I did love how you explain your hands. I’m a dealer at TCH Dallas come see us sometime. Just let me know me when you want to come visit. Keep up the awesome work on the channel. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. Run Good!! Lance
Great to see you in the vlogging space. One bit of feedback though, the audio was super low for me. I had to crank the vid up to 100% and crank up my volume to get a decent volume to hear. Good luck.
I’ve been collecting feedback and know that this is a top item. Sorry about that. But it’s resolved going forth. Thanks for the comment and hope you’re easy for vlog 2!
Thanks A. I design my own life man lol what’s w people on the internet telling me what I should do without all the details? Blessings to you. Vlog 2 on the way 💪🏼
Congrats dude! This is Big Tony. Finally, the vlog is here!! Much respect for the decision to go out and trailblaze the tables everywhere. I know you will do great and I am looking forward to playing together again soon. PERSEVERANCE!!!!!!
@@JWINPoker probably the same way you were recommended to me at the top of the page and I never heard of you before. You're doing something clever on the back end, via tags or whatever... idk but it worked and now ur at 5k subs. Good shit
Yep. I have a marketable title + thumbnail. Just enough controversy to get those initial comments which feeds the algorithm. From there, I had good retention rates and the algos just kept feeding it to everyone. > 50% from home search and suggested. That’s surprisingly high. It’s nice bc it gave me incentive to really increase production value and make future vlogs better for everyone. Took many of the big feedback items for Vlog 2. People will enjoy it.
