Cassie Slain loses control of verbal and motor function while in mid description of a new child safe tablet w/ internet browser. QVC continues to sell the product even with the dazzed host as if nothing was happening. Quite disturbing.
Looks to me that she suffered a Temporal Lobe Epileptic seizure. As a sufferer myself, I can fully appreciate how this poor lady felt, my seizures are pretty much identical! And normally after the seizure has passed I can continue fairly normally. In situations like this, there isn't much that medical attention can do, other than give a quick check over.
My myoclonic seizures began at 40. Tonic-clonic (absence) seizures began shortly after. Tardive dyskenesia continues. Over 18 years now. Determined to be pseudo seizures after many scans as they are triggered by brain stem/spine and not the brain. Do you get what I'm talking about? Then you have something similar. We aren't in our right minds. 🤯
Keith Moon me too. That wipe me out I usually have an aura of 2 or 3 minutes to get to a bed or chair ... But I've dropped to the floor. A few times ...then I know the next two days I'm going to sleep and hurt.. They start with that slur and the more you fight it the faster it hits ...at least they are not grand mal... I never had one till my mom died three years ago.. The stress i guess
Heartbreaking. She must have been under enormous stress because of appearing in front of live audience on TV. I hope she is living a wonderful and healthy life now.
Poor thing , I hope she is ok and in my opinion the male co host did everything he could considering the very confusing situation ..As soon as he noticed she was having trouble he tried to help
I mean, I agree. They tried to power through because she seemed like she was ok but as soon as she could no longer speak he jumped in. The video creator saying "QVC has no shame" is a bit off, imo. It reminds me of the guy who stabbed himself with the ceremonial katana, and the other guy just steps in to keep selling them while the other host "seeks emergency medical surgery in the studio". THEY had no shame.
People are mad at QVC for trying to continue, but the rule of thumb for most Live things is "the show must go on" unless it is a really bloody thing. They have started to take a break more now days though. And honestly The woman was the one trying to persevere on. All the attention was probably very embarrassing for her. My little sis used to have a type of seizures that thankfully mostly affected her face, and she never fell, but that was always a real possibility and being young would have to go find someone to watch her. By the Grace of God as she got older, they disappeared and haven't ever come back, though we where always careful that she didn't hit her head or something like that. Her last one was over 15ish years ago. But it is so scary indeed. You can tell the second time he was worried and ready to help her, because her just stopped basically what he was doing, set down the tablet and tried to discretely have his arms out on either side of her to catch her. After the first time, now that he knew how to know the signs, he tried to help her best he could and having probably never seen anything like that in his life before then, he did a amazing job helping and trying to protect her.
What is the problem? We had a wonderful lady in our church that used to help in our Christian school. She had a seizure in School one day. The pastor sat her in a chair, asked me to sit with her til it was over, which was in less than 2 minutes and then when it was over we put her to bed in our missionary room, called her husband, who got off work and came and took her home. She just needed rest afterwards. It’s time people quit hiding these people. They are human just like anyone else with medical problems. As a child I baby sat a girl for years and never learned she was epileptic and had to be on medication for seizures until she was 21 years old and died of a Grand mal seizure because she didn’t get her medicine refilled. I was and still am very angry that I was left in charge with no knowledge of the situation or what to do if something happened. I would have been terrified if she would have seized and GOD forbid anything would have happened to her. Knowing her mother I think her family viewed this as a mental disorder, something to be ashamed of. At that time seizures were called epileptic “fits”. Hopefully we are more enlightened now. GOD bless this young lady🙏🏻✝️💕
Peggy Radeck My son has multiple seizure types. He goes anywhere possible. When his teacher asked about sending him outside for recess, I told her to send him. He needs to live life, not watch it. I can't wrap him in bubble wrap. On very bad days we don't risk it, but I won't keep him in because he "might" have one.
Mickey Rob You’re a great parent! Both my girlfriend and I have the same chronic illnesses. They affect tons of things, but a major is our autonomic nervous systems. She gets non-epileptic seizures, that come from autonomic nervous system “misfirings or overloads.” I’ve had a few, in response to bad anesthesia and Tilt Table Tests, but it’s mostly smaller “non-epileptic seizure-like activity.” She has such a lovely life, she’s in college (she’s so smart), lots of great friends, supportive people around her, we’re moving out together soon. When it’s a really bad day, she takes the day off to run fluids and take PRN meds, but there are more good days than bad. I get quite frustrated when I see kids with chronic illnesses not being allowed to do anything at all out of the parents fear. (I have G and J feeding tubes, and we’d love to foster kids with feeding tubes/medical issues.) I think your kiddo is super lucky you’re not wrapping him up in bubble wrap- and he may have to get a few gnarly scratches to show for it, but that’s playground right of passage anyway, and he’ll be really independent and get to lead a full life at the end of it.
I get migraines, and have the same exact symptoms. I was misdiagnosed when I was a teenager. They thought I was having seizures, but through testing it turned out to be bad migraines.. With rest and medicine I feel better shortly after each one.
The only thing you can really do to help someone having a seizure out is to try to make sure they don't hit anything on the way to the floor, and clear some space so they don't whack into anything. Other than that they have to just ride it out.
It's live television. Producers and staff should have a plan for something like this. Usually live shows have pre-recorded filler footage for emergencies
Glad this is shown so people can see that not all seizures are alike. As seen, initially not everyone knows what's going on. If it's the first one, the patient is likely to be more confused than anyone else.
Wow, she is a fighter, trying to stay professional and focused. Although, they should let her rest and let the guy do the job. But i admire that she tried.
I was working and a lady I knew, from another department came to talk with me and just stood at the door looking blank. I said hi, and she said nothing. I said, her name are you ok? and suddenly I realized that it must be one of her seizures and I jumped up and grabbed her, although she wasn't falling. Later, she didn't remember it. She did have brain surgery but, honestly, if I didn't know she had them, I wouldn't guess that she was having a seizure. Someone came and got her and I went back to work so don't even know the follow up but I knew that she'd been having them and just went on working. It's up to her and her doctor.
There is a video, I think it's a 60 second doc, or it may have been Upworthy, a girl and her doctor ran a marathon. The girl has multiple daily seizures and during the race she had to go off into the grass and she seized and then went back running after her doctor checked her out.
Some of the commenters here are absolute drama queens. What else could her co-host do on live TV? Freaking out and making a big deal would've made matters worse; he did the best he could in the situation. Ofc if he *did* have a freakout, y'all would complain about that too. *smh*
Watching it’s amazing (not in a positive way) how when our brains ‘glitch’ it can affect lots of systems. In this case watching it without being there and knowing what’s about to happen we can see and her how her speech glitches, rarely mild. Then it becomes more severe. On a positive note, she was fortunate to have this at work, not home and alone. Seeing it I can’t imagine she’d be able to ring her an ambulance.
thats some BS right there. obviously there was a problem, either get her to the hospital or take her home (and not let her drive). letting her come back on is shameful, whether she insisted she was ok or not. Poor girl.
em4300 The thing that bothered me about the whole thing was, when she first showed signs something was wrong by patting her chest and looking anxious, they should have sent her to a hospital then.
You never take them home. You take them to a hospital capable of caring for brain injuries - federally recognized Trauma 1 centers. Seizures ARE brain injuries, and need to be medically controlled as soon as possible.
Educate yourself. I know this is a really old comment. But when someone regularly has seizures, there’s nothing you can do about them. You can go to the hospital and pay hundreds of dollars for no reason. They will keep you to rest. Which you can do at home for free. You don’t know her situation.
That must be so scary for her to go through that! And great job with the other guy, noticing something is wrong and extending his arm for support. Strokes, seizures, syncope and a host of other things can cause a person to suddenly fall down with no ability to instinctually brace their fall to protect their head or neck from permanent injury. A simple fainting spell from dehydration can result in permanent brain or spinal cord damage if someone falls down without any protection. If someone is suddenly acting slow and different from their usual behavior, get your dukes up just in case and ask if they're alright. If you're on television at the time, there's a good chance they'll play it off to keep the show and their career moving forward. But there's a good chance you're not going to be on TV when this happens to someone you care about, so they're more likely to answer accurately if they're not OK. And dukes up, regardless.
revered and honored? for what exactly?... lmfao do you even read what you write or listen to your thoughts and words. You know what Maureen, youre right.. lets give this lady a fucking Darwin Award too, lets set up an awards show for people who have seizures on television while we're at it. Jfc....
Good lord. Do you think that those two and the cameraman are the only ones who work there? Someone was probably already on the phone to 911. They did what they could. And also, live channels have to keep their programming going no matter what.
The worth and dignity of a soul is measured by what it delights in! And delight/happiness is our highest desire. Men have killed to have it. Kings have gone mad trying to find it. Wars have served it. Affairs have worshiped it. We all seek it. Sadly, billions have died without discovering its secret... namely, that joy is not an it, but a He. The Gospel is the good news that sinners can delight in a Holy God. It's the good news that all of our deepest desires are satisfied in the ONE who sent His Son to bring us to Him. . God is so valuable and so satisfying that the most loving thing he could do for us is to make Himself gloriously indispensable. He is the only being in the universe for whom self-exaltation is the highest virtue. Therefore, God's commitment to be glorified and our goal to be satisfied are not at odds but come to simultaneous consummation in the worship of His Son... who took upon Himself the Wrath that God had towards us in our sinful disregard of Him. A wrath that could never be appeased through man-made religion. Jesus didn't die to turn the world into a paradise, he died so that we could stop seeking paradise in the world... Temporal things such as beauty, popularity, money, sex, racial identity, gender reassignment... can never truly satisfy. BECAUSE WE WERE MADE FOR SO MUCH MORE! We were made to gaze intently into the Eternal Beauty of a majestic King, Father, and God... meet Jesus the Christ. Life is hard, God is good, Glory is coming 😊... Thanks for taking the time to read this comment. May God bless you with all things necessary for life and goodness. God Bless!
She passed out. She did not have a seizure. She admitted on-air later that she hadn't eaten or had enough water that day. She passed out on-air two time prior to this as well, due to not eating beforehand. QVC parted ways with her after this episode. No one forced her to finish the segment. She finished on her own accord.
@@happyfacefries I read an article about it. She was interviewed and admitted she hadn't eaten. I don't remember the source. I posted this 3 years ago.
Hilarious! I wonder if she crapped her pants too 😂.

That looks & sounds like me when i had a stroke (i don't hv seizures) My brother right away knew somethn wz wrong when i was talking 2 him but not making sense and, in turn, i knew by the weird looks he waz giving me! Anyway he got me 2 the hosp straight away! I hope she's okay! 🌷
Oh calm down, no one is watching QVC to see medical emergencies. Going to "commercial" or getting her a chair or safe place to ride out the seizure is all they CAN do.
That shipping and handling basically wipes out the discount. My eye twitched too doing the math. Worrying g bout my kid on the internet, another password to remember.
What the FUCK ?? He’s like you ok , then goes into sales. The producers in the background noticed and said ✋ stop. This guy really should of stopped when she looked at him and leaned into him slapping her chest !!
I love whoever did the captions here - that was so... great. Love it! People never get to see our speech slur out like that. Well done. Second, i'm not seeing an issue with QVC though. There's no way of knowing if she chose to go back on herself. I would have. I have a few grand mals a week...after a spill like that, I would (and have) immediately returned to work - to my fault unfortunately. So what was the option? They cut the screen and sat her down. Have to do something with us...we unfortunately can't always be trusted with ourselves in the postictal state, that's for sure. I sure as hell am not staying at home and not working, i'm glad Miss Slain has the same attitude! Of course, hopefully I wish her well regardless the cause of the seizure - if it should not be epilepsy related. F*ck Seizures! Be safe everyone!!!
She could have sued. Whatever happened to in contract duty of care? Sell at any cost? Boycott. Greedy shameful bastards. God forbid...had she died? Then what???? America needs to stop obsession with the dollar. Its not helping
Well first of all, you can't really tell it's a seizure. To me it just looks like she's stuttering because maybe she's nervous or something. But it is something to worry about if it continues that long. The only reason I knew it was a seizure is because of the title.
What's disturbing about it? Get real people. Real life happens on camera too. It was handled just fine. Some of you are just bored and want to find something to try and make an issue of to get clicks.👌
If you have never seen anybody with an epileptic attack or any kind of seizure like that you have no idea how insensitive is to film that my dog was 2 years old and started her epilepsy attacks it freaked me out so that's how insensitive was that they didn't cut the camera out or say will be back in a little bit and anyway I don't even know why I'm explaining you
This is my opinion and I can comment because im doing it from experience she didn't know she was going to have a seizure neither did OVC some of us don't know when we'll get one so stop being nasty because its obvious you don't have a clue just wish her well being nice is free
@dfcda Keppra turned me into a raging lunatic. I was running up and down the halls of the hospital and tried to escape by taking on the security guard. I’m just a little guy but it took him and multiple staff members to bring me down. They had to restrain my arms and legs and give me haldol to calm me down. I tried the same thing again and this time and I had to get by my PCA (Patient Care Assistant) who was literally 6 ft 9 (not exaggerating) and 300 lbs. After this attempt they realized that I was obviously allergic to Keppra. To make matters worse, I’m also severely allergic to Phenytoin. That gave me DRESS syndrome, which is basically a full body rash and can be fatal if it spreads into your mouth or throat. I got lucky and for some reason my rash was pretty much everywhere on my body except my head. From what I understand, Keppra and Phenytoin are both “first line drugs” so they’re the first drugs given to seizure patients.
She couldn't help it getting seizure people shouldn't put her down and say bullshit... I get seizures... I know how she felt it's very enbarrassing....
