I have so many happy memories connected to this album. It was the soundtrack to my summer, gallivanting around London. My flatmates and I had it on all the time. Bliss
I will always LOVE Róisín. Always and forever. She is just the most intelligent of all of them. Or better said I will always LOVE her music. Her music makes me BE. Her music makes me BE at home. Her music is in my blood. Her music IS my DNA. Really grateful I AM right now. 🌞🌈🌍🌎🌏😇😎🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I was supposed to see you and Moloko perform on Exit festival in 2003. as a treat for my enrollment into uni. I failed the exam and couldn't go, I was so sad. However I saw you at Tuborg Green festival in 2007. in Belgrade. I remember running as close to the stage as I could and crying, dancing and singing the whole time. I'm super introverted and this was the only time I attended a festival and I will always cherish that night.
Róisín Murphy, your music is more than just sounds to me. Your tracks are filled with energy and passion that make me feel alive and enjoy every note. Thank you for your creativity and for making the world brighter and more colorful.
Artists love to be appreciated, they're human after all. But when they make art for art's sake, like this performance here, then it is the art, not the artist, that is to be celebrated. And for an artist, that is the ultimate goal. And for clarity's sake, when I say "art" I mean when everything in a performance is done at such a high level that even the mundane (like using a cymbal crash pad) becomes elevated way above just music or performance. In other words, _art_ . I'm sure Ms. Murphy could make more accessible, commercial material, but she purposely doesn't it. And no, she's not starving.
Hurts, really? First of all, WHO says she even wants to be more popular/recognized/mainstream? She said herself that she's a very happy person. She does what she loves, she has no pressure from labels or fans, she is not desolate, she can afford her lifestyle both financially AND creatively (meaning she can experiment, encompass many genres, create ''artsy'' videos etc.), she's invited to festivals and booked for solo concerts... She is ''niche'' but that's not inherently a bad thing. She's not forgotten or brushed off. She has time for her work, fans and family because she's her own boss. So maybe save your ''hurting'' for someone else, someone who needs it?
I've never heard of this artist before. But I can't imagine there are many other singers who would begin a song with the phrase "primordial soup." She has a powerful voice and I really dig these lyrics.
