I can’t get over the fact that the Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, and Team Fortress 2 communities have all been without new content for decades, and yet they somehow have slightly more sanity than the Arkham subreddit does.
it's been a joy to see the whole madness develop, I was right there at the beginning with Arkham World. Back then it seemed silly, I had no idea it would become this insane
@@glibchubik4090 it all started with "Arkham World", the fake game that we made up because we hadn't gotten a game in years. Soon after it devolved into shitposting and soon we started taking sincere posts and turning them into jokes. For example: someone misspelled "asylum" as "alsume" once, and since then it's been a joke to misspell everything, even the names of villains, like "The Fiddler" and "The Jonkler", "Dickstroke" and "Killer Cock". People who weren't in on the joke still posted earnest, sincere posts in the subreddit at this time, and all their posts got turned into shitposts. Someone would post "is there a lore reasonf for x?" and then shitposters would run with it "is there a lore reason for why my parents got divorced?". The "is he stupid?" trend also has been a driving force for the sub, "what arkham quote should I use?", and more recently "who the FUCK is this?" are other shitposty phrases that have taken hold in the subreddit.
@@Doctor_Straing_Strangeoh it started way before that, i remember the “does this (insert unrelated thing here) remind you of Arkham Origins”. Which began getting more and more absurd. Back before i deleted my reddit account i participated heavily in that part of the downfall, i came back like 2 years later and saw what happened. I take no responsibility
3:48 is perfect imo because: 1. the wheezing 2. the fact he looks like he's actually covered in shit 3. clayface's hollow face 4. the clapping 5. the inability to finish reading the post 6. "is he stupid?"
The Arkham subreddit is a specimen that should be documented for what happens to a community without a game for almost a decade Also, I’m only 2 mins in, why does it feel longer? Am I stupid?
Now, I would reference either L4D2, TF2 or Half-Life, but we live in a reality where fortunately, those franchises are getting the love they deserve. Thank God.
I highkey really want for the arkham or former arkham devs and contributors to see these posts and just react to it. I wanna have the voice actors for the villains react to all the insanity of the posts. I feel like joker would like them the most lmao
The VA for Batman and Joker won’t be returning to their roles. Kevin Conroy died and Mark Hamill said he won’t voice the joker again without Conroy as the Bat. “Without Batman, crime has no punchline.”
Bro ngl r/Berserklejerk is actually like the long-lost brother of r/BatmanArkham with all the deranged madness going over there (my sense of humor is broken beyond repair after enduring so much Jonkler and Donovan memes)
@@chris_player2995 they're cannibalizing this game, drawing direct lines to what happened to Joel in TLOU2. The sub is now home for the hatred of the game, just like what TLOU2 became.
@@thex5899 Yea, they clearly now how that site is and yet they post on there anyway. Unknowing that one of their posts are gonna easily offend someone. Or make everyone come up with the fakest theories.
