From the mic static it sounds like there might have been a little wind. Makes it tough to land planes that don't have real weight and don't glide like real planes. I though he did good to not crash it!!!

It's like playing guitar - easy to do, hard to learn. There are so many mistakes you can make, but with enough training it becomes fluid and natural. I'm learning to fly RC myself and have found a simulator program to be the best way - you can crash as often as required without it costing anything :)

Oh, looks like they're electric, that's how it was able to reverse and you can hear the electric motor sound. But I'm amazed at those realistic scale 8-bladed scimitar prop's, would've had to be custom made and not cheap!

What you're describing is called adverse yaw. The the aircraft turns, the outside wing produces more lift than the inside wing. A byproduct of lift is drag. Thus the outside wing produces more drag and tend to "pull" the nose of the aircraft towards the outside of the turn. To correct that, you need to apply rudder to make a coordinated turn. I think a lot of rc pilot lack true piloting skills and rudder is definitely one of them. The thing is with the rudder is that it takes practice to coordinate it's use in a meaningful way. You can definitely see that when pilots come in to land. In this case this guy demonstrated very poor control of the aircraft in slow flight. Too many times I see RC pilots rush the landing and fail to follow a stabilized approach. Their airspeed is all over the place and this is the result.

If the methods explained above by both of you two make control a lot more better then how come RC pilots are often scared to do it this way? It makes a lot of sense to follow what both of you are saying. By the way I have absolutely no idea what I am talking about when it comes to RC planes. I am just completely fascinated by them and always want to learn more. Sorry if the question is very basic.

It requires additional coordinated input along with aileron use. It can be considered 'lazy' on part of the pilot to rely solely on aileron input alone without additional input from the rudder. It does seem to be a lost art to perform scale like input from the rudder when turning.

Looks like it could benefit from one of the 3-axis gyro systems on the market now, such an expensive and ambitious model would usually have one though. Looks like it might have been difficult conditions on the day. Certain modellers (like me) can build better than they fly, I'm still learning that part but I had experience making stuff when i got into the hobby

I understand the procedure of reversing thrust! My question was, they have pitch control on rc props? If so that is amazing to me!

Iam going to answer my own question! I saw the rotors change rotation and they had to change pitch to go backwards! They can do that! It is outstanding!

The plane needs to be heavier to look real...
