I think the best part about the "infertile by age 25" argument is that 25 is, generally speaking, right in the middle of a woman's most fertile years. He couldn't be more incorrect.

@@liamcassidy5992 25 to 30 is the prime of a woman to have a child. If she's prone to want to be a mother, it's when mothering anxiety or brooding anxiety starts to show up. After 30, birth complications are more likely to happen. And people like myself that have pcos might not even be able to have a child past 35 bc it would be dangerous for the mother. Unironically the best mermaid/merpeople concept I've seen was in Harry Potter 4. I can't remember why they did it, but the vfx department really wanted to hammer home how terrifying they could be, so they made them more fishy humanoids rather than directly half-and-half, and even had them swim like fish (i.e. tail fin goes side to side, whereas more "traditional" mermaids usually go the dolphin route, up-down). Idk I just thought it was neat :)

i'm a big fan of creative, spooky mermaids as opposed to the boring ones we see so often. if you're gonna make a story about mermaids, explain it. maybe humans, at some point in history, had to retreat into the water and become an aquatic mammal like seals; it could be a transitional evolutionary phase where we have tails and fins and other fish-qualities, but still have the human traits that would be beneficial underwater. that's what anyone complaining about 'realism' should actually be talking about, not some unrelated bs about race

To be completely fair to the "worldwide flood" people, there _is_ enough water on Earth to cover all landmasses if you somehow managed to squeeze it out of the ground and then put it back in afterwards. I personally think the Flood stories that exist in most cultures (including the one in the Bible) probably refer to a series of more localized megafloods at the end of the last Ice Age rather than to a single, global event, but the amount of water isn't actually the issue it's commonly made out to be if we're already assuming miraculous intervention.
@adrianmcbride1666
@adrianmcbride1666 Год назад
Considering that many/all of the cultures in the area at the time have one of these stories that is pretty likely. When world was used then it likely was not meant to mean planet, world only refers to the planet now because we have come to interact with people and. Gain awareness at that scale. World is a somewhat subjective term.

@@LincolnDWard Understood, but that still could be where some of it went, and perhaps there are multiple explinations. Ignoring the religious connotation which is always associated with this, there is a lot of geological evidence that there were large amounts of flooding at some point in the world's history, possibly when the ice age ended or perhaps at another time. Edit to add: Preemptively, clarifying my point on Geological evidences, it doesn't currently support a worldwide flood, so I'm not trying to argue that point.

I asked what that meant, and he said he wanted to go lean slightly South English, or slightly American. So I just asked "do you want an American accent or an English accent? Make up your mind." He repeated that he wanted a neutral one, I got really confused, recorded with my normal hybrid accent, and he didn't correct it. For context, we are Australian, with a mildly South English accent from being first gen. He at least had the self awareness to know our accent isn't neutral, and that we do have an Australian accent, but he didn't notice that in the recording I was still very clearly Australian! The pill thing is a neat problem. You separate them in twos, grind both sets separately, thus mixing them into a uniform dust, (unless they're gel filled capsules, in which case, a uniform gel), and take exactly half of each set. No matter if you ground two reds(half of which is one red) and two blues(same, but blue) or one red and one blue in each(half of the set being 50% of one red and 50% of one blue), you get a dose of exactly one red and one blue. You're welcome.

About hating on astrology as a gender issue: I think it has more to do with the fact that while, yes, most women don't believe in astrology either, it is a generally more popular hobby among women and mainly harmless. As you yourself said, it can be fun and interesting and for most people, it's just that. Still, like most "feminine" hobbies, it's put down way more than typically masculine hobbies, see also boy bands, rom coms or fanfiction. As soon as the audience is predominantly female, especially so for young women or teenage girls, the whole topic is treated a lot less seriously than it would be otherwise. I think that's what the post about the magnetic bracelets might have been about, as well, calling out the hypocrisy of treating one silly belief as more valid than the other. It is often also those kinds of people who say women don't have any "real" hobbies, simply because they define anything women like as shallow or silly or something similar. On a larger field, you can even see this in the job market: Formerly highly respected jobs such as teacher or nurse became "help jobs" that "anyone can do", academic areas such as philosophy and sociology unnecessary and esoteric, such at least the opinion in certain circles.

for anyone wondering about the pill puzzle, the solution is to take half of each pill. 2 blue pills, divide in half, take 2 halves+1 blue pill, same for the red. as long as he throws away the other half after taking them so he doesn't take both halves of the same pill he's good.
@amandagroetzinger7537
@amandagroetzinger7537 9 месяцев назад
The red and blue pill would depend on if they were shaped the same. If one was a capsule and one was just a pill, that would be easy to figure out. If they were both pills and they had different writing/engraving on them, you could feel that if you were blind. It also depends on what level of blindness is going on. You can be legally blind, but still able to see enough to make out colors.

Therefor, being blind, he has no way or method to tell the pills apart. Many different cultures have stories about a major flood event at approximately the same time, which are also appearing in religious texts, so a „big flood“-ish event might have actually happened- but I only heard it in a history video, so it might not be true, but it somehow strikes me as an interesting thought- of course, it’s not a „oh the world is flooded, there is an arch, oh, now the water is gone and everything’s fine again because sun“ thing, that thought is more of a funny one to think of

1. Total fan of the scientific method. 2. Hold an MA in Counseling. 3. I like to explain astrology as one of the first ways humans tried to figure out why people do what they do. Some people are only ready for that level of explanation "He's stubborn because he's a Taurus." or "Click is precise about science because he's a detail-oriented Virgo." Does it matter? Probably not. But, as a way of understanding "why someone does what they do" it is a starting point. Anecdotally, I've noticed a lot of creators on RU-vid going through major changes over the last few years and when I took a look at their age - the trend was for these changes to fall between the ages of 28 and 30. For astrologers the reason would be the first Saturn return, the first time in a person's life where Saturn is once again in the same position it was when the individual was born. Statistically we could call that correlation. But.....(say it with me everyone) "Correlation does not mean causation." That's how a lot of astrology works - by observed correlations, some stronger than others, but still there isn't a causal relationship.

Just so you know blindness is a spectrum, this means less than what actual the percentage of people who are completely blind/see black is we think. Blindness can also varies from one eye to the other and there are also different types (pass me the terms if it's not correct) blindness, there's: - a reduced vision (seeing only in one delimited place, which is what my grandma has) - foggy visions, which means at different levels you will see less and less details and it's all a blur - complete blindness - also your casual glasses users who have a hard time seeing things from afar or up close (also also reminder that glasses are disability aids but are socially accepted) And if I've missed any, someone can feel free to mention it! So yeah, you don't have to "rub your fingers to know what colour it is" some people see colours, others don't really recognize them, others can't see at all. A spectrum!

She tended to figuratively stuck her head into the sand when she found out I have autism. She would continue to do it later when I started to need to wear glasses. As well as other things. The irony of the situation was before I was diagnosed. My mom was posthumously diagnosed with Aspergers. I was diagnosed with Aspergers just before the DSM V came out.
