The title reflects on their succumbing to the video craze BUT doing it their way. I believe this birthed Michael Stripes C00 film project. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I remember riding my bike down to Blockbuster Video just to rent this with my allowance money 😊 and stop for a slice of pizza next door to take home too. I was maybe eleven? Twelve years old? I loved their music but I didn’t own a record player at that age. So this video was my alternative, a way that I could hear their music. I rented the ‘Green’ concert VHS too. Watching this tape again after thirty years brings back great memories. Thank you.

So good to see this again. I had the VHS and watched it endlessly. I came to the band late, probably 1990 when tourfilm came out but I immersed myself in the band from then until Monster. I wanted to go to Athens to Wuxtry, go to the church on Oconee Street and see the railway trestle and the kudzu grass from the cover of Murmur. But I just missed the moment. A few months after I started to delve Out of Time came out and of course they went stratospheric. Albums like Fables.. were just steeped in southern folklore. Just a wonderful band.
This part starting at (8:04) is probably my favorite. I remember making a copy of the VHS in mono not stereo with VCRs before the bluescreen protection was added to everything! Haven't watched it in years but its in the attic somewhere... 4. "Left of Reckoning:" (8:04) .. (rain snippet) .. (Written intro for Reckoning) .. (segues into) "Harborcoat" .. haha me too! That little jam at 8:04 ,whatever it is, was for a time actually my favourite REM 'song'. I was mesmerised by it.. boy I'd love to hear a longer version of it!
