Story 5: Sorry, but being family does NOT excuse property destruction. If it has to take court papers to get the money for a replacement laptop, even if it means breaking every family tie in existence, then so be it. The act of destruction was literally out of envy, why would I just brush that off if I was OP or OP's daughter? Heck, just flip the script and see what the reactions are

Last Story: Take her to court. Her and the daughter came into OPs house with the explicit intent of destroying the laptop and the evidence shows that. There was no reason for the Sister to be hiding in the upstairs bathroom (one she knows is off-limits when one on the ground floor is available) and there was no reason for her daughter to be in OP's daughter's room with the blender. And the fact said blender was poured entirely onto the laptop and not a glass says it all. And they did it on the father's birthday, knowing they'd have an audience for the blowout. That was entirely malicious. Buy a replacement and take them to court for the costs of it as well as getting a restraining order as there's clear bullying with intent to harm against the daughter.

I saw a similar story, but the woman DID call the cops, and the asshole cop LET the woman take the car thinking the man was lying about it being his. Cop did not even bother asking for licence and registration, just believed the woman, and hauled the guy to jail. The chief came in, asked what was going on, because the chief knew the OP, and the OP told the chief what happened. The arresting officer went pale and tried to shout that OP was lying. And then the chief told the arresting cop that he KNEW that car because he'd helped OP get parts for it when OP was restoring it. The arresting officer, chief, and OP went back to the lot to find the OP's car was gone, the woman and HER car was gone, and they put an APB out for the car. The car was found in a ditch, half-burned, and VERY badly vandalized. All the windows smashed, and the radio and speakers having been ripped out of it and stolen. They found the woman another county over in a motel. She'd used the money to get drugs and she and her BF resisted arrest when they were arrested. The OP's car was totaled, not fixable. Between insurance, and the money the idiot officer who LET the woman steal OP's car gave to OP, he was able to get another car that looked nearly exactly like the one he'd had, and after another year of work, with the rest of the money, he was able to fix the car up like new and get it on the road.

I've had a similar situation as the last story. Was years ago when I was in my early 20's. My sister had twin boys and two cats, she'd just left her husband for reasons I won't get into. My parents, which I lived with, decided to allow her to come stay with us until she could get back on her feet. Now, before this I had moved most of my childhood stuffed animals into the basement to store, in garbage bags. No problems there, right? Well with her two cats now using the storage room as their bathroom, with a litter bin, they somehow soiled on my bags of stuffed animals. I don't know how the smel got in on them, I guess there were holes in the bags. There had to be dozens of stuffed animals in those bags. The only reason I found out that her cats had done so is the smell was coming out of the room fairly strongly. So I walked in, followed my nose and wouldn't you know it? The smell came off the bags. I opened the bags and proceeded to realize that 90% or more were ruined. Some of those stuffed animals I'd had since I was a very young child. When I confronted my sister about this, and asked what she was going to do about it, she responded with "They're cats, I can't control where they went." When asked if she was going to somehow pay me back for the losses she snorted and told me to get over it, they're just stuffed toys.

A friend of mine was living with our other friend and had the misfortune of having his plushies tossed out by the family of our other friend simply because the family refused to let him have them back after a bedbug outbreak in the house. They also had the nerve to blame him for the bedbugs just because there happened to be a small concentration of them in my friend's room. He managed to save only like two of them and many had been gifts from his late mother.

story 5: if it was something accidental, then i'd most likely just forgive the family member and let it go and replace it when i could, but considering Op says the smoothie shouldnt have been upstairs, that upstairs was off limits, that strongly implies it was done intentionally, in which case, yes i would take a family member to small claims over it, doesnt matter if they are family, nobody should get to cause intentional damage and NOT suffer any consequences

Story number five: Absolutely NOT the butthole. OP would only be the butthole if she didn't take her sister to court. I just can't wrap my head around this kind of behavior. Being so envious and narcissistic that they would destroy someone else's property, in this case family is, it just boggles my mind. Her sister is an entitled parent and her niece is growing up to be a monster. At bare minimum, her niece has no respect for boundaries, zero regard for the word no being a complete sentence as well as a totally valid response and nothing resembling a sense of accountability. It's of no surprise to me whatsoever. After all, how can OP's niece understand any of those qualities when even her own mother doesn't grasp those concepts? She's been coddled her entire life as everyone has made excuses for her by declaring it's just her “fiery personality.” Brushing off her obvious toxic personality traits has only emboldened her and made her think that she's bulletproof. I think OP should absolutely take her sister to court. Any family telling her to drop it or let It go are just as bad as her sister and her niece. However, she has to be prepared for it to divide the family and for anyone who thinks that she's in the wrong to permanently go no-contact if she chooses that route. If it were me, and that happened, I would just think the trash took itself out.

Story 5: The lawsuit never happened, but I did get threatened with both a lawsuit after I refused to just eat the cost of repairing a broke computer. Basically a distant cousin let her idiot kid break her fathers business laptop. He did this by just letting her son take it apart because he was curious about that it looked like inside. Broke a lot of stuff in it too. She begged me to fix it, which I did. Didn't even charge her for work, just parts. Cost me about $300ish for the parts, but after I refused to do the work until I got paid she threw a tantrum and stared talking smack to our entire extend family about me and about how I was going to make her and her kids starve. Long story short I at least got my cash, but not from her. Her grand father ended up just giving me the money. If I hadn't been already hurting for cash myself I might have let it go, but I was.

1st story I worked at a restaurant and had blocked off parking spaces in prep of a delivery As the truck is waiting I start pulling the cones and a person tears into a space right in front of the truck. When I ask the driver 3 times to please move they refuse as they'll move when they are ready I had the driver pull foward until his grill is about a foot from her window and blow his horn. Her cell phone flew out of her moon roof and the look of terror in her eyes as she saw nothing but grill. She throws her car into reverse and they puts her car into the ditch/hill on that side of the store. The best part was the police officer who saw the whole scene on his dash and body cams as he goes over to her and starts writing tickets for failure of vehicle control, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and a few other tickets

If the laptop wasn't powered up at the time it might be salvageable, but I wouldn't trust it; replacement all the way! If a Karen ever "asks" for something really expensive, like an expensive car, just let them have it and immediately report it as stolen. If they're not pulled over immediately, they'll be pulled over at some point and then we'll all get to see them on one of the Bodycam Footage RU-vid channels, desperately trying to explain why she's sat in a car that was reported stolen three days ago by a Mr. Smith when her Surname is Jones. On top of GTA and whatever else they get pulled for,if they trigger any speed or traffic cameras, you can wave you having to pay because "My car was stolen two days before that camera clocked it going 30 in a 20 Zone and I've the Crime Number to prove it so,if anyone is to pay,it's the woman who stole my car, your Honour.."

Story 1- My sentiments were the same as OP's. When he mentioned the Porsche, my first thought was, "A janitor who can afford a Porsche? I need to get a job at that school!" Story 2 - My first thought was, "That kid needs a good spanking!" Then I thought, "His mother needs a good spanking!" Then I thought, "They both need a good spanking!" I'm glad they at least got a good chewing out. Story 3 - If I'd been one of those witnesses, I'd have said, "You want to call the police? I saw the whole thing, so you go ahead and call them. I dare you. I double-dare you!" Story 5 - I dunno. I understand OP's perspective, and I'd certainly be furious if I were in her shoes. If she took it to court, I think she would have a strong case. On the other hand, as the old preacher Vance Havner used to say, "A bulldog can always whip a skunk, but it's just not worth it." Would a lawsuit be worth all the fallout that's sure to follow? That's for OP to decide, of course, but she does need to take that into account.

Story 1: It's not common that I hope a Karen gets what she wants but, just to prove that I'm not unreasonable, I am not too proud to admit that I hope that Karen got the sports car towed (probably didn't happen unfortunately). There's a piece of me that would REALLY love to know exactly why she thought some random cleaner owned that car though. Like it could be because she's crazy and delusional, but I think it's much healthier to assume that there had to be SOME reason she disregarded the little voice in her head screaming "THERE IS NO WAY A CLEANER COULD AFFORD TO DRIVE THIS CAR". Literally the only reason I can come up with is that the OP was the first person she saw (as you said). TBH it would make more sense if instead of a "you picked up someone else's keys" line she said "I know it isn't your car you moron... I want you to have it moved because you work here so it's your job to satisfy me". Story 5: That evil part of me says "Oh, family doesn't work that way? ok i'll take a baseball bat to all your windows and crowbar open your front door... no i'm not paying for repairs because family doesn't work that way".
