@bobsterclause I was referring to how this is akin 40k warp and yes there is time travel in warp-space and in multiple mentions in the books and lore that time travel is possible but causality is fixed so yes you can go back but time will not change.

At least this prospective Xeno aggressor was somewhat intelligent as they did their homework on what they thought would be a reasonable military response. Even better, they decided to retreat when it was clear that there was far too many unaccounted for variables.

Martial law such as you would find around a space battle would allow for the Court marshalling of civilians. Besides the Death Star isn't that valuable of of war ship.

The hope is not IF we'll ever have that tech. The question is how much money the fandoms are willing to spend to develop that tech for their pleasure. because i assure you we always will have enough money.
The first story, I can't stop laughing and saying "YUS!". So awesome! Ridiculous, but AWESOME. So the setting is probably thousands of years in the future, since both the Eternal Empire and the Terran Union are called "Galactic Powers", with fleets numbering "Trillions of ships" for each Battle Line, that could out mass whole solar systems. And instantaneous wormhole travel is the main way of getting around. I guess, with technologies and resources like that, we can afford to make inferior non-military-spec techologies for civilian use. Probably molecular-construction is common enough that we can virtually build anything we want, like we do today with 3D printing. No doubt those future fanboys (now with Convention Centers the size of solar systems) probably molecularly printed all those ships. So, I am not surprised that the Vice-Admiral could threaten a fanboy even with an Imperial Fleet and the Death Star behind him, because even if they built that Battle Station to full Star Wars spec, its firepower is probably nothing compared to the current mainline Military ships. Lol

It's thousands of years into the future. The Star Trek IP holder (wait, it should be open source by then, right?) has probably retconned the warp scale multiple times by the events of the story.
Gotta be honest here, this first story was one absolute blast to read and i desperately hope for some more of that particular setting. on a different note: imagine the same thing but with magic. some kind of eldritch god decides to invade terra now that we have finally coalesced enough aetherial density in our souls to begin learning about magic in the universe and so our souls are finally tasty enough for his consumption. his uncountable legions tear portals all over our world to begin assaulting our cities. meagre defenses begin to oppose them which are primarily composed of governmentally founded mage forces. they almost fail to contain the first weak assault of the bottom feeder demons. the strength of the armies of the eldritch god seem unstoppable. but then... the forces all over the world suddenly feel stronger and their wounds heal. The WOW fanboys arrived first due to their summoned mounts and cast buffs and mass heals to support the main human fighters. next: bright blue portals open from blue scrolls and hordes of D2 mages disembark the TP's to bolster the front lines with untold legions of Skeletons, Golems, Wolves, Bears and the pure Magical Artillery that are the Mage classes. Now that the battle lines have balanced out even more Humans trickle towards thousands of the battlefields: D&D magicals exit the beatdown student loan vehicles they used to get to the battles and cast spells like Revivifie or even True Resurrection to help save any of the dead who did not survive the first attack of the eldritch hordes. They begin building Peasant Railguns and others Wild Shape into Golden Dragons or Tarrasques to form bulwarks in front of their squishier friends that are concentrating on spells like Wish or maybe just Barding away on their different instruments to bolster the spirits of the combines defenders of their World. Even more people join the fights: Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic-the-Gathering and Pokemon Players combine their forces to spawn untold amounts of creatures who hurl themselves towards the enemies. The demons are slaughtered by Marit Lage Fling Loops, their magical support is wiped from them by massive global effects like Harpie's Feather Duster or simply just vaporized by untold bolts of Burst Streams of Destruction and many of the surviving greater Demons are somehow killed by F.E.A.R. Lv1 Rattata, Destiny Bond Wobbufet or Fissured out of the plane by massive Forms of Groudon whilst being cooked by the Harsh Sunlight. The Weebs Arrive... Armies of sweaty Fedoras, RU-vid Commenters and Fandom Creators join the battles and transform into avatars of their beloved characters. Bronys, Supermen, Son-Gokus, Friezas, Sailor-Scouts with Neckbeards, and any other Pop-Culture reference in existance floods towards the faltering hordes of the God to show him that Humanity is willing to Rip and Tear untill all his forces are Done. The victory is astounding, reverbs throughout the aetherial multiplanar construct and is absolutely final. The God is written out of existance by the combined powers of [STING] from Worm, Nanoha's orbital friendship cannon, several Plagg's from Ladybug casting their Destruction in a choir and things like the Genkidama, Tsukuyomi and a kitchen sink thrown in for flavor. Humanity is never bothered by invarders again because scryers find out that Fans of the WH40k, Lovecraft, SCP, Slenderman and some other Franchises deliberately decided to abstain as their impact on the battlefield could have led to catastrophic results for both the attacker and the defenders. the End? i imagine some kind of Magic Olympic games could be set up for humans to learn other species and their mystical arts? F.T.A. or something^^
Dear god, I want to see this written out as an HFY story. Human creativity and imagination would be an abomination if allowed to manifest into the physical world.

Who was the first supplementary force before the Star Wars fandom arrived? I'm not sure I recognise them just by "am array of unknown ships jumped close to the human line, designs that had never been seen before." and "Almost all the ships have a significant array of armaments some of which are totally useless except in close quarters." Or is that the combined various fandoms not affiliated with the big three?
