As a woman who’s gone through domestic violence with my former husband I can’t stress enough to take it seriously on all accounts . I’ve had people write things off as if being physically abused is so common that it’s not that serious , or to stay if it’s not that bad for your child or children or even blaming and gaslighting as if you know the person is capable or willing to do the things they do before they do them . If that’s the case most people wouldn’t be in the situation to begin with . But no one could have ever convinced me to stay . But from experience it’s appalling how many people act as if domestic violence is the vault of the victim or they don’t realize how truly dangerous and nerve wrecking it is when there isn’t proper justice and you can’t rely on what’s supposed to keep you and your child / children safe.
