I remember in the late 90s or early 2000s reading an interview with Fenriz saying that if he showed even one person the magic of Celtic Frost, his job was done. In those exact words. Take care buddy.
Celtic Frost is my favorite band as well. The day he died I listen to the entire hellhammer, Celtic frost (except cold lake), and triptykon discography Found out the next day he died, was going to do a video like this, but you did fantastic job. Might Just do my Celtic frost collection video instead. By the way sleeve idea is cool. Going to get the heptagram on my elbow. My dad has a tattoo of to mega therion as an entire back piece he got back in the 80s.
Played Monotheist and watched A Dying God (again) as soon as I heard about his death. He seemed such a good, complex, loyal, intelligent person... Hope Tom is okay and I am sure that something truly fucked up, dark and twisted will appear on Triptykons new LP in his honor. We lost a true music legend and he will be always remembered. I too agree that CF invented Black and Death basically. Bummer..... RIP Martin
If not for Celtic Frost I would have never been introduced to extreme metal. They were the “Masters of Epic Black/Doom/Ambient” music that has stood the test of time. RIP Martin Eric Ain and long live “The Everlasting Frost”!!!!
This news just hit me out of nowhere. Celtic Frost is one of 10 favorite bands of all-time and to hear about this, crushes my soul. He was an underrated bassist and had a good singing voice. From watching interviews with him, he seemed like a cool, hilarious, and intelligent person to be around with. RIP Martin Eric Ain (Martin Stricker)
Seen Celtic about 2 times back in 1985 on morbid tour at Fender ballroom in Long Beach California unbelievable gig they played with Exodus that night hung out with Tom and Martin really cool guys
What a story, I had a similar experience. But cannot remember the band or song, I went with my dad to his friends house and his friend was blaring this fast pace screaming, torture sounding music. I listened as my dad helped his friend fix his car. From there extreme was my life and forever will be.
Favorite performance with Martin is Ain Elohim - Celtic Frost live at Wacken 2006. That whole show is one of the best metal concerts I've ever seen. It's on RU-vid and is well worth checking out.
My buddies and I love him too. I was lucky enough to catch Celtic Frost at the small club, Fender's Ballroom, Long Beach, CA, USA in 1987. And Martin passed me in the hall before they played their gig and we talked for a moment. A true legend.
I just happened to be listening to both Triptykon albums Saturday. I got curious what initiated the final Celtic Frost breakup. I find out about Martins death on the wiki page. I thought it was a joke. RIP Martin.
I applaud you for making this video man. I know how much you love Celtic Frost and by watching this video I have nothing but respect discussing this passion you have for them
Getting Monotheist was a really good day for me too. I met a good penpal friend of mine in Tokyo and we went to Tower Records where I got the Japanese press of the album
Shocking news and a very bitter pill to have to swallow. Ah that bassline and those words in Mesmerized . His vocal on A Dying God . Just a couple of the many moments of his creativity that I'll always remember. Gone way too early.
This is me 30 + years ago . Difference being I was listening to a radio program instead, when I got hit with " Visions of mortality " ... must have shaken me somehow to be here after all these years :-) .
well done for making this i am a huge hellhammer and celtic frost fan this is affected me in so many ways i can,t believe he,s dead truly sad and if anybody is into celtic frost please pay tribute to him in the best possible way a true legend in the history of heavy metal period long live martin eric ain the legend lives on
been listening to CF since '84. they were my fav band in high School and still today . when everyone in Metal was going crazy over Metallica back then (which I did like too for three Lps) ,I was into CF more because when I heard CF that was next level stuff. totally weird avant but still Kick ass thrash and Metal to the core. no one one was like them or ever will be. I'm 47, close to Martins age so its very odd having some one your own generation die so young. hes deffinetly one of those guys it seems from interviews you would like to hang out with. thanks Martin for your musically genius and that remains forever. you left your mark here on earth sir.
I first discovered Fats Domino several months ago, his death cut me up deeply. I never knew him personally but I told everyone how much his passing affected me. RIP Fats.
Today is Halloween 2017,this I just found out while trying to get used do the new possessed, surfing you tub and so I looked into Celtic frost and WHAM!!
