R-Type Final (PS2) All Bosses (No Damage, Hardest Difficulty). It is a video game by Irem for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. Originally planned as the last game in the series.

Press 'F' to pay respects for Cerberus who was sadly unable to escape the Bydo dimension at the end of R-type Delta and became nothing more than a puppet for the Bydo.
R-13A Cerberus is a horrifying moment to think about, considering the pilot never managed to escape from Bydo space. It's a neat call-back from R-Type Delta, but something of a somber moment to see the tragic fate and another casualty of the great Bydo conflict. On a lighter note: There is a A LOT of lore to consume within the game itself. The number of ships produced and their stories (many of them from Irem's other titles), the research on all of the Bydo subjects is neat to read as well.
Oh hey, a nostalgic fellow! Would you happen to know why R-13 couldn't make it through the Bydo space? I was just replying to another comment and then realized I never figured out why that was the case...
@@pixeldude8441 It's not a simple answer, but it's definitely an interesting one. The R-13A Cerberus was equipped with a Lightning Wave Cannon, which was inadequately designed for further use in breaking through the Bydo home dimension, even though the pilot tried in vain to gather up enough power to do so. The Wave Cannons were designed to totally destroy the Bydo, due to their waveform nature. Although the cannon on the Cerberus was capable of doing the job, it clearly wasn't ready for cracking holes into another dimension like the normal wave cannons used by the Delta, even the Albatross could pierce the barrier with its cannon (I think it was a Burst Wave Cannon). ^^; I hope this provides the details you were looking for. I just really happen to enjoy the lore of R-Type.
Man, ending 2 is really sad. I've read that the pilot, in that ending, doesn't know that they are possessed by the Bydo, and basically just thinks their allies have gone insane and attacking them for no reason. What I didn't know is that you actually had to play this section and murder waves upon waves of your allies. That's rough.
Wait really? I was thinking that the character had been possessed by that thing, and we had to fight against our allies because our ship has been controled by him, like you said, thats really sad
Fun fact: The "Force" which your ship uses as mains of defense and for special weapons is actually a bydo embryo aka an infant Bydo Core, this essentially means that the Bydo Core is unleashing hundreds of its own kind into outer space, talk about pyrric victory... Also, these game textures have A LOT more detail thana R-Type Final 2 has, it is sad because Final 2 is okay, but it could have been so much more graphically and music wise
Sometimes i'm left wondering how the heck this guy can play so many games and just master them so quickly? The constant "no damage" uploads is just mindblowing
Really hope Tozai Games will make a collection someday which will include: - Super R-Type - R-Type |||: The Third Lightning - R-Type Delta - R-Type Final On PS4 with perfect 60FPS, no slowdowns and Infinite Mode. It would be awesome!!!
Super R-type is basically a modified version of R-type II but I would love to see some sort of R-type III remake/remaster since it wasn't an arcade game
Some of these ships are obnoxious to unlock. I remember selecting a certain ship, turning on the invincibility at stage 3, going to work and coming back, and turning off the invincibility and getting a game over to unlock a new ship.
I loved the overall idea and theme for this game and design that were used here, and watching you bash these bosses makes heavily nostalgic. Too bad I only got level 3 as a kid tho lol
@@clawofthefallen kinda kills the 'final' in the title. But IIRF final fantasy was named that because that was the last game that studio thought it was gonna make. But it was popular enough to keep going all these years.
@@moseszero3281 and R-Type Final was made to be the last one of the series, originally. Much like Final Fantasy was thought to be the last game made by square at the time. And true that R-Type had a handful of games made after Final. Like the 2 turn-based rpgs on the PSP and Dimensions. Anyway, I'm super glad it's being made by former iRem devs. Can't wait to hear more news about it.
I think this is one of the best looking PS2 games, and I loved it when I played it back in high school although I never managed to beat it even on the easiest difficulty.
I want a multi platform R-type game called R-type legacy or something that has: R-type R-type II R-type Leo R-type III 3rd lightning R-type Delta and R-TYPE Final As I've said before, R-type is my jam.
So wait... you spend the game fighting abominations, only to become one yourself, but after you destroy your fleet, you end up in a matrix fight, then reach the core and turns out it is another ship controlling everything!? This game is weird... amazing, but weird.
@@markguyton2868 And the R-type in there is the unfortunately fated R-13. It's not just some random ship that ended up there, it's one of the ships you piloted in R-type Delta. If you complete the game as R-13, it won't escape the collapsing Bydo dimension after destroying it (from sacrificing your force, of course). In which, for some reason, the dimension is just neighboring beside Earth. Anyways, the reason why R-13 was unable to escape the dimension is not known to my knowledge, but my dad just told me that its wave cannon wasn't strong enough, (which I could see why, since all the ships use their Wave Cannon to break the barrier between the Bydo dimension and the human one.) even though I thought R-13's Wave Cannon was the best in the game. It may have something to do with the Force's "Bydo Power" mentioned in the intro of the game, with R-13's force having the highest... Now that I think about, that may be the case. As after stating that, the camera ominously pans towards R-13's...eye? And everything darkens, except the eyes. So I guess the force was just too powerful for its own good and caused the dimension to collapse quicker than usual. But don't take it from me though, because that's just an idea I spitball-ed from long ago. you should probably look it up to see what actually happened. If it still exists.
That certainly would have made for a far more interesting plot; lord knows I wouldn't say no to a game that would be able to, in such a way, genuinely subvert one's expectations, surprise the player, and end in a place/fashion that an old, jaded nerd like myself WOULDN'T be able to correctly guess from the first chapter or so.
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 Bad terminology. Mostly meant the movement of the environment, obviously the camera is mostly attached to the ship, but in parts the world is constantly rotating around the centre making it feel as though your perspective is constantly moving
I can provide some detail about that one: The Bydo is a waveform entity, which means it can infiltrate anything with ease. It assimilates anything it passes through, which is what happened to the ship you were piloting. It's pretty wild, actually and not to mention really cool stuff within the lore. Also, it's grim as all hell too.
@@malord6686 the secret one is the ship stuck in the bydo tree, the same ship the player used in rtype delta, specifically the R-13, basically in the R-13 ending you couldn't escape the bydo dimension and stay stuck in a bydo tree
amazing run but could you answer a question? This appears to be emulated but i can't tell if it's running at normal speed. I tried playing this on an emulator and i couldn't find any settings or roms that didn't run at either half too fast or half too slow (I forget which, it was a bit ago.) Is this running at normal speed and if so what emu are you on? I'm DYING to play this again.
I always struggle to beat Giant Warship Core. Staying between 2 lines of bullets while making small movement gave me anxiety and i always die from that
I like this game but it has one of the most shitty ways to unlock new ships. Having to use a certain ship for x amount of time (which iirc was up to 60 minutes, maybe even more) then having to use the new ship an x amount of time to unlock another ship, then having to use that new ship an x amount of time to etc. etc. etc...
forced replay value homie. They could have done something a bit trickier/skill dependent like "Destroy x enemies in one shot with x" or "defeat the boss in under x" or "force attack only"
By the way, when fighting the final ship when you are a Bydo, is that ship supposed to be some random powerful ship? Or are you literally fighting your past self to the death? The later makes less sense since you actually see the bydo-ship-you during the first level, but it does not attack you at all
It is a plot deviced scene, not an actual gameplay feature. But in lore the R-9A pilot needed to fuse their Force (Which is a Bydo egg/baby) with the Bydo Core, so borrowing the same amount of energy that Bydo Core uses, it can power up the Wave Cannon to a "Final" level which can obliberate the Core.
Was this played on PS2 or PCSX2? Very high resolution & anti aliasing compared to other PS2 gameplay on youtube I have never played this on PS2 hence the dumb question
Hey Shadowserg, if you read this, how about going through this game again but this time using the Ragnarok charge system which can be charge up to 7 times which then unleashes a giant laser blast that destroys everything including the bosses.
Avoid enemies' bullets going shot you down using R-9Ø2 Ragnarok II. Recharge Giga Wave Cannon following: 1. Beam 2. High 3. Strong 4. Great 5. Special 6. Devil 7. Bydo *Please be carefully read to avoiding enemy bullets, required skills to try dodging.*
At stage 5 the boss has multiple ways to trigger different paths you can take. Path A takes you to the Bydo Core, Path B to the R-9A and Path C to Gridlock (which technically isn't a final boss because of the stage after it). The secret boss only appears when you play as a certain ship and it replaces the 3rd stage. You generally need to finish the game to unlock said ship.
I bought this last year cause it looked so amazing and creepy but I'm terrible at it. Can't get pass the 1-2 boss. Lol. Which sucks I want to beat it but doubt I ever will
Im on the alternate Level 7 where you have to fight a R-9 ship with his force pod firing all over the screen this shows how hard the Enemies have it trying to survive R-9 shooting patterns
Wanna know what's worse: Humanity created the Bydo. It was meant as the perfect weapon, able to transform into a wave and pass through anything and assimilate everything it came into contact with. :3 Creepy enough for ya?
