Hello Super good video ❤ Now maybe can you help me . We hace 3 bmw with my brothers , and now one r1200 gs start with a electrical problem. This one no sleep and stay on 0.1 amp . If you pay attention when you shut of the engine , over 1 minute and nothing the sistem eléctric sound 2 times . One principal rele . And another one click of something behind the battery. May you or some body tell me what unit is that? This one in the other gs1200 same year make a noise and sleep . In this one we haven’t got that noise and don’t sleep . I appreciate a lot if you can help me Thanks Gabriel

I can not get the tank cover to go back on cleanly. The rubber grommets just won’t engage leaving the cover and 1/8” above the mating surface with the side covers. I even loosened the gas fill because it looked slightly off center. Any tips for getting this cover back on? Do you recommend putting the grommets on the pegs and then assembling? Thanks.

Thanks for the video! Question: I noticed that there are four different types of screws, three different T25s and the one T30. Well, I screwed up by not taking note of which type goes where, aside from the T30 which is the obvious one, where can I find the list of the screws placement?

This is atrocious! I'm so disappointed in BMW; they've shifted focus from field-serviceable machines to Japanese style contraptions that are designed with dealerships in mind. I have an R1150R Rockster, you could work on it in the open country with the included tool kit. This thing has a thousand screws to get at the littlest thing. Beautiful and powerful machines, make no mistake but the design philosophy is a travesty!

In my experience, these bikes have actually gotten easier to work on. our R1150R is simple, but the same era R1150RT has more screws to remove than this, and is more difficult to work on, especially with the Servo-ABS brakes.

@jimvonbaden: Hello Jim, I hope you are doing fine. I admire your work. I see you took both the 2013-2016 and the 2017-2018 R1200 GS apart. I came up with the idea to do a nice winter project. I would like the complete fairings of the 2017-2018 model on my 6-2016. Do you know if this is possible? I think the frame, engine, tank, fork and radiators are the same. I look forward to your response. thanks in advance! Greetings, Glenn

My tank center trim peice has had a gap on the right side ever since i took it to have it wrapped. I think they warped it with a heat gun.

Hi Jim, is the clip you removed at 2:35 destroyed or can it be re-used?
@jimvonbaden1
@jimvonbaden1 7 лет назад
Jacek Zielina it is reuseable. you push the centre pin out and the outer clip pulls out.
