Maybe this will help. I don't know if I did this for you before or someone else. Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu. Then there is Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrulmentalist and does vocals. Jukka is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai became the drummer and as of now is a permanent member. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. the 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from the Netherlands.( power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live ( Floor). 7 Days to the Wolves at Wembley

There were 2 lead singers before Floor Jansen. A quintessential essence song and also peak performance song for each would be; Tarja Turunen (1997-2005) - "Phantom of the Opera" (Live - End of an Era - 2005). Tarja is an epic, fantastic, operatic style singer, but that's all she did and you do not get stylistic variety like you get with Floor. Annette Olzen (2005-2012) - "Scaretale" (Studio version from the album Imaginaerum). The main criticism with Annette was that she was not a particularly good live performer. If you ever want to be disappointed by Nightwish, check out nearly any Annette performance live (except this song, which she performs decent live, but still doesn't come close to the studio recording). She was also more of a pop style singer. Also as a minor note, "Jansen" is pronounced "Yansen". All J's sound like Y's in the languages of that region. Likewise the former singer Tarja is pronounced 'Tarya' and the former drummer Jukka is pronounced 'Yukka', etc... No big deal, but since you specifically asked "Am I saying that right?"

Look at Dark Chest Of Wonders. It is the opener of Wacken Open Air 2013, and WHAT a way to open a concert. And if you like that one: A Shudder Before The Beautiful is a similar song that was the opener for the 2015 concert in Wembley Arena. Have fun! Floor’s previous bands were After Forever (1996 - 2009) and Revamp (2009 - 2016). A good song from After forever to start with is Monolyth Of Doubt (Kopspijkers 2002) and a nice one from Revamp where she does the growling is Wild Card (Bloodstock 2014). Again: Have Fun!

You're getting used to the feel of how Tuomas writes and composes the music now. As it gets more comfortable, it's easier to enjoy more of what they do. At least that's how it seems to go with many. It's a bit odd and different to some people at first. I loved it immediately the first time I watched End of an Era with Tarja. There was just something about it I never realized I'd been missing. And it wasn't necessarily the opera vocals from Tarja, although that was pretty cool too. Of course Floor doesn't sing that way much, but she brings it out once in a while. I'm not sure if that's her choice or by Tuomas' request. She seems to love to hit all the different styles she can on any given night.😂 I've never seen anyone quite like her before. Anyway, yeah, it's different than what we get from the mainstream. That's refreshing for me personally.
