Bought two R8 Bodies this holiday season! After shooting on my starter camera 70D for the last 9 years, and it’s been a game-changer for my photography. Lowlight, Image quality, and Full Frame.
Ooo, big upgrade! And two... that's interesting, I hadn't thought of the R8 like that, but for the people that want two of the same, this is actually a decent model to shoot in duplicate with. If I ever got into shooting in-person, multi-cam podcasts for clients, this might be my "affordable" way into something like that.
@@DanYosua absolutely! having two R8 bodies is essential so I can have my 35 and a 70-200 ready in tandem. It’s also great for when my wife helps as my second shooter for weddings! The video specs are respectable like the no record-limit in the R6ii
For others reading - You can probably get by with one battery to start on the R6 and R7 if you're photo-first and not shooting a ton.. you need* to start with two for the R8. Probably three if truly shooting hybrid. For long-form video, my battery dies before the camera overheats, I get about ~60-70m in 4k24. And I notice I'm chewing through it if I mix in 4k60 clips amongst photos when out shooting. So def two, and be disciplined about keeping them charged and dumping cards. But sounds like a good call for you, that's why I like the battery grip. There are many times I slap two fully charged batteries in that and not worry about swapping at all.
I had an R8 to back up my classic R6, but unfortunately had my R8 stolen at a shoot 😢. I wonder who has the camera now in days. I just ended up buying the R6 M2.
Oh nooo, RIP 🥲 The R6ii seems great though, combines all the great R6 stuff with better video recording capability. Anything surprising from the R6ii that you didn't expect?
Dont buy R7 it has autofocusing issues, especially when using Burst Mode, you will get frustrated especially with wildlife and fast moving objects, R8 does not have IBIS, R6 is the best , I own both R6 and R7 but R6 is simply the best even with only 20 megapixels
I've noticed that it's not quite as good in high speed shooting as well, but it's fairly good. I'm hoping with the R7ii, they make improvements there to bring it up to speed with the R6ii, even if it starts at a higher price or has a few less megapixels.
