@@emilym1923 even if this is true, there's other thing's to consider. She's old, she won't be able to bare him children. I'm sure might works too. They are definitely going to pay for everything, wedding and lobola. Why pay so much.....
The Dr who did madam's surgical job needs to be arrested, and i fully agree with papa after paying lobola there's is life to maintain.not everyone take R80k as peanuts like she can make it in a day or two.
What's is her worth?.... In the black culture if you have a child and old you can't be snapping your fingers for a high price I don't care what degree you have or networth... Worth is how you carry your punani
@Nonkululeko Sibiya - You clearly don't understand the age old African concept/custom of lobola. FIY, human beings are priceless & are therefore never up for sale.
@@Nombulelo_ace GO SANITIZE YOUR HANDS RIGHT NOW!! Typing all that nonsense with your fingers & exposing us to your infectious ignorance. Lobola is not one's 'price', no one has a 'price'. Price is how much you pay for merchandise bought at the store. Read up on lobola before spreading fake information.
That's where people get it wrong...makgadi must unite families. For madam to make that comment is misleading. Baby isn't buying her...he couldn't. No one could.
For me the custom of lobola is outdated and should be terminated. The original purpose of lobola was simply meant to be a token of appreciation to the family of the bride. There was no set amount. The groom gave whatever gift he could give. Nowadays the custom is corrupted and family members like the aunt see it as winning a jackpot lottery. Also, it’s one of the driving forces in gender based violence because the husband and his family can say they paid money for the bride to fulfil her house duties and abuse the woman if she does not fulfil them. It’s an old way of thinking that objectifies women and quantifies their worth as if they’re commodities. It no longer has space in the modern world where women seek to be seen as equals with their male counterparts and it needs to be scrapped imo
Mara when you are sitting down thinking on your own nje 🤔 which parent wants to give away their child for free...lobola has nothing to do with Gender based violence because women get violated whilst cohabitating, married, single so Manje no excuse for violence... Lastly lobola is not an issue it's the reasons your'll get married for... A Degree and your career doesn't make a marriage hence a lot divorce
Nombulelo Hadebe What he’s saying is that most men use it as an excuse to mistreat their wife. It also makes the man’s family act like they own you just because they’ve paid lobola
@@Nombulelo_ace true. Lobola has absolutely nothing to do with GBV. Lets not even get the facts wrong on a sensitive matter such as this. If anything men will vakue the woman they paid lobola for as they had to work to get her.
