Number 1 rule with Rations that i learned from my Dad when he was in the Army that if a Ration pack is a few years old the items to avoid are mainly things with dairy and nuts in them thats where you will run into problems with them most of of the stuff in that RAAF ration still look good to eat not the cheese though

Hey there Pete 👋 Yet another great review you have there mate ! This 82 EFR was great to see . I was on the edge of my seat when you cracked it open . It bought back a lot of memories as my first ration pack was in fact in 1982 at the age of 8 ! I still remember it to this day . All of the components looked great in this apart from the tin of cheese , but , it wasn’t designed to last 40 years . I’m quite certain many of the components would be past edible now , apart from the chocolate maybe 🤔 I see you had quite a bit of fun putting the puzzle back together in the end there . The cheese looked like a bad choice to include. At least they packed the rubber bands not under tension. Someone else reviewed a survival tin with the rubber bands wrapped around items.

G'day Mark, Yes in my opinion cheese in any ration new or old is a bad decision, the shelf stable cheeses are pretty ordinary. I was surprised about the rubber bands they normally dry out, must have had a good air tight seal. Thanks for watching as always, cheers
