Kedar Bodas is a khayal vocalist, singing in the Gwalior gharana style. His father Narayanrao Bodas was a famous singer and Marathi stage-actor, and passed his love of music onto his son. Kedar had a childhood fascination for the tabla, but soon settled on vocal music, going on to develop an eclectic, esoteric style. In addition to Hindustani music he has studied linguistics and Russian folk tunes in depth, as well as composing for documentaries. Hear more of Kedar here:

Not violate it by singing a dazzling taan here or an acrobatic sargam there simply because others have done it and it captures the audience’s fancy. I try to let the raga emerge by working with the bandish whose import too must be respected”. (Kedar Bodas)
