The second performance featured Hindustani vocal singing by Sawani ji. Sawani Shende, known for her melodious voice and expertise in khayal singing in various Hindustani classical music forms, was introduced to Indian classical singing at a young age by her grandmother, Late Mrs. Kusum Shende. She furthered her training under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. Veena Sahasrabuddhe of the Gwalior Gharana.
