Raam Segol Full Review - Should You Buy It? The Mobile Bunker [War Thunder] 

"who the heck is Ram Segol" - my reaction when I encountered it for the first time

Current owner here and I preordered it, Gotta say, the Israeli tech tree is absolutely not worth it at the moment… Unless the Merks get actual armor and reload rates, then it’s not worth it. Better off grinding Japan people, don’t waste your time here.

As an israeli. We pronounce Ra'am sagol (we say sagol. Not segol) by saying Ra and ham. Together say RaHam sagol. (And no, it's not the pig meat, it's a laugh (Ha) and (M) in the end) In hebrew: רעם סגול

I pre ordered that thing. And it got me all the way from the M48 to the Merkava Mk.4M I done it in two weeks

I got excited when I first heard the name thinking it's "Ram Seagal" but sadly it's not a tank named after the great sensei. I was ready to buy it even

My experience with the Raam Segol and other merkavas 11.0 and above is that they are incredibly resilient to chemical charges and autocannons. I've tanked 4 consecutive shots from bmp2m and aft09 and were able to shoot back in the raam segol. However, in the overall top tier environment, the chemical protection it offers doesn't translate into apfsds protections. I've 1 shot one of them in my 2s38, and I fear them not at all when riding my t90m and strv122s. In an environment where high pen apfsds is prevalent, the overall survivability of the raam segol is no more than a Leo2a5, and at least you have to aim for the driver's hatch or LFP to kill a T90M or T80BVM. Nowadays, T90Ms, Leo2A7 and Strv122s are EVERYWHERE, which translates into that the Raam Segol is relatively a easy pray for most of them. And if you are sniping against a hull down Leopard or an Abrams, it would be incredibly hard, as you depression is only -7, and if your engine caught fire, the smoke will block your vision badly and prevents you from shooting back to their sniping spots accurately. Take this with a grain of salt. The merkavas have unique designs, but by no means do they offer an excellent protection in its BR/Top tier environment nowadays.

Mobile bunker? I get absolutely slapped by anything that looks at me. Roof? Penned. UFP? Penned.

So not only is it lacking the APS which is clearly false advertising on Gaijins part as the model has it physically modeled, but the commanders sight also doesn't have that sweet 4x-20x zoom that the Mk.1B/2B/2D/3B have. The RP bonus on Raam Segol and it being rank VII barely justifies its addition to War Thunder but, taking $70 price into account, I would take Bet Dor Dalet over Raam Segol to grind the worst tech-tree in war thunder simply because it is cheaper and has that 20x zoom on commander optics and a lower br with almost the same turret armor effectiveness + 105mm M413/DM33 still rocks even at top tier against T-90M and Leopard 2A7V, at ranges over 3000m, just have to aim for weaker armor like lower plate and turret ring and cannon breach. Nice try Gaijin, I'm not buying it.

This is lie. Merkavas doesnt have any armor at all. They dont have survivability as well. Mk4 can be easly penetrated by 10.0 tanks, without any aiming, just by shooting at silhouette. This is premium vehicle wich is far inferior to other ones from this BR, especially type 90. And it allows you to unlock one of the worst tops in the game. Not worth buying at all.

I usually play around 10.0 with germany and russia being my mains. I bought this tank and not looking back. The survivability was on point in this video, and greatly explained. Its like a sponge taking hits. I wasn’t too sold on it considering the size of the vehicle (its big), but it holds firm. I quickly adapted my gameplay and its been so fun. I personally don’t have time to grind out vehicles, so if you do then you can definitely grind out the tech tree versions as I have heard they are similar. If you don’t have time to grind out and have money, this is a definite buy. Just be sure to have skill in the upper tiers first for a great transition

If dude didn't pre-order it and did not do a "should u buy" right as it came out, instead waits for a free test drive. It already answers ur question if its truly worth the $70+tax.

its a cool tank same with the others merks, but i hate going around coners with them, your engine gets taken out and you just sit there with your gun not on target.

Could you re-review the old merkava 2d since your last review was 2 years ago and much has changed since then

All merks suffer the same traits a big object I actually thought they was way smaller, engine crew protection but it renders it useless most of the time, you didn’t mention fire protection? It so easy to burn these out just aim left the fuel is by the engine especially using a round like the dm53 and over pens the engine block

I said this under JustinPlays's video, and will say it here again. Even at 11.0 Merkava 3D is easily the best vehicle in the US tech tree, even better than M1 SEPs or AIM

Italy, France, Japan and Israel do not worth it to buy a 70$ premium at the moment. Not enough vehicles at high tier, not enough diversity.
